I'm so sick of the indifference of the Covidiots. What a disgusting showing by the goon squad at the State Capitol yesterday.

I’ve heard the term “spreadnecks” and I’m replacing my use of Covidiots with it.

But we were driving by the Capitol yesterday when I saw those people and I asked my wife what our legislature and governor could possibly do in order to do even less against covid than they are already doing. What on earth is Oklahoma doing right ****ing now that is still considered to much for those assholes?

Wow! One of my favorite hobbies is Geocaching. One of our local icons and his wife are in the hospital. He's in ICU on a ventilator. Eff thing damn virus.

I heard Oklahoma has had 185,000 doses of phizer vaccine that has expired.

I don't know actual numbers but the estimates are between 1000 and 2,500. All of the folks were crammed into the Capitol building, no masks, and they were protesting vaccine mandates, so one can safely assume that it was a mass-transmission event that will be affecting the state for the next several weeks.

Why they were protesting vaccine mandates is unclear given the very obvious lack of such mandates in Oklahoma nor the political feasibility of them. It was basically an extension of the TRUMP WON events we have been seeing in the last week, many of which were aligned with the belief that he was going to be "reinstated" on Friday *LOFL*.

This protest did have a 'Trump Won' flag... so, not sure if it was against a mandate or what. These people are crazy.

The thoughtless privilege of America's vaccine refusers

"So we sit, month after month, patiently waiting for the 90 million or so unvaccinated, COVID vaccine-eligible people in this country to get off their pampered American asses and drive a meager mile or so to the CVS or Walgreen's to get a safe and simple shot that would prevent a long, painful hospital stay (or at worst, a dismal end-of-life experience on a ventilator) for them. We wait, and wait again, as we read article after article proposing new, clever ways to get the so-called "vaccine hesitant" to come around (Whatever you do, don't criticize them, we're told).

But while we're busy waiting for these people to somehow see the light, we shouldn't lose sight of just how incredibly lucky we all are to live in a country that actually has the wealth and public health infrastructure to provide these vaccines in the first place."

"Most Americans have absolutely no clue how unbelievably fortunate they are to have these vaccines available. The fact that so many are willing to blithely and casually risk the lives and health of others, to say nothing of their own lives, is a sorry testament to American hubris, ignorance and entitlement."

It was probably their planned “reinstatement celebration rally” and they just found something else to rally about instead.

We are getting the dreaded "technical difficulties" from OSDH regarding case number updates. So, brace yourself for a really bad day.

We’ve had like 50% test positivity, it’s gonna get super ugly with schools open.

Does OSDH have to brief Governor Kevin Covid first when the numbers spike out of control? These "technical difficulties" days are usually when he has a big press conference or is in Washington or wants to host Trump.

6,967 new cases (3 day total)

Tulsa county has beaten the previous hospitalization record. https://twitter.com/jonesingtowrite/...281564681?s=21

Hulbert schools had to go to distance learning after 3 days of in person. Over 25% of the student body was in quarantine.

Getting the feeling that this is quickly spiraling out of control. Anyone else?

My sweet, sweet older sister is at Mercy on a ventilator.

She had been fully vaccinated but had other health problems and had a breakthrough case about 5 days ago.

I know everyone becomes a saint when they are gravely ill, but she truly is just that. Easily the sweetest, most kind-hearted person I've ever known and I've told her and just about everyone else I know that exact same thing many times.

Not sure how she got Covid because she had been back at work for some time but her granddaughter lives with her and just re-started PC schools when this happened.

I am not a religious person but I am spiritual in my own way and have been praying for her and if you are so inclined, I would greatly appreciate sending positive thoughts and prayers her way.

Karen Brzycki Honeycutt is simply the best person I've ever known and I don't want to know a world without her in it.

And of course, no one can go see her...

Not me, her daughter who loves her with all her heart, her son, her husband, her four grandkids who she's looked after like they were her own children, not my 3 other sisters.

The hospital set up a link like Facetime and I just talked to her (although she is sedated) while she lays there -- this person that has spent her entire life doing for others -- completely alone.

It's all just theoretical and maybe causes you a bit of a cough or lost taste/smell, but this is the reality of a pandemic that should have been and could have easily been under control months ago.

    Get your ****ing shot.

Oh Pete, I'm so sorry. I'll definitely keep her in my prayers.

On the "plus" side, it does look like we are close to hitting the peak in terms of cases. MO and AR are already there, and our modeled R(t) - the number of people an infected person infects - is under 1 (though this is all modeling and estimates). We should be seeing cases begin to decline a bit in the next week or so, with hospitalizations peaking a couple weeks after that and deaths a couple weeks after that.

Prayers for her especially but also for you and the rest of her family/friends that are impacted by this.
