Does anyone know what they're doing just south of Metro Tech Aviation Campus on 54th Street? There's a steady in and out of dump trucks and I can see from 54th they're scraping the ground south of the campus.

Possibly related to they recently approved rehabilitation/reconstruction on runway 13/31, and there is limited space south of the campus before you are in that runways clear zone.

It looks like the timeline has been delayed. Before, it said August 2021 was when the new security checkpoint would be opened.

And before that, the entire project was to be complete in June.

They have been paving the apron around the expansion for literally 5 months and still aren't finished.

Hard to understand how they have so badly missed on their timeline, especially since for a huge part of the construction time the airport traffic had dropped to next to nothing.

Hopefully Timberlake is being saddled with some serious LD's for this delay

    Probably supply chain related.

While traffic dropped to nothing, so did raw materials production.

    Hello,
Nothing exciting but I am curious ( and maybe bored); which gate does Breeze Airways use ?

Three of the four loading bridges have been installed. Paving crews are on the last portion of the ramp. Light poles have been erected and are being wired. The TSA checkpoint equipment has not been moved into place, but that is likely one of the last steps. Other than that, who knows what is left for fixtures, gate equipment on the interior. Going to be a long walk from security all the way to the west gates,

End to end in the B terminal at DIA is 1 mile. That's a walk

that's interesting esp when you consider that wrwa is roughly 2 miles wide E-W and that the terminal sits in the middle. I'd think with the new addition built out the terminal would be half a mile at least.

The terminal sits between Portland and Meridian and is only a fraction of that. Maybe a quarter of a mile wide currently.

Come on. The current terminal is just under 1/4-mile wide and the new addition adds probably something like 400 feet on the east, just a little longer than a football field.

thanks for the feedback catcher. I now realize the loop the terminal ends on actually veers to the East so the terminal isn't at Meridian. Still should be at least 1/2 mile end-to-end once the E concourse is built out.

For you and me, no, for those who are older and less mobile, have toddlers, or someone with a disability, yes, it's a long walk compared to having security situated in the middle as it is now.

The longest airport walk I’ve had by a lot is Salt Lake City’s new redesigned airport. It was a 20+ minute brisk walk from gate to exit.

Yeah it's rough right now. I think they're building a tunnel or something to cut that down though.

Those people can easily request assistance in getting to the gates or changing gates. There is no need for them to walk if it's a problem for them.

before dallas put in the "new" tram system the old tram was broken almost all the time ..... my flight from denver would land at one gate and the connection to OKC would be well over a mile walk .. it was pretty terrible..
