My choice was basically to either keep on nursing, slide further into depression and PTSD, and eventually act on my worsening suicidal ideations, or to walk away from it and take a medical retirement.

I'm spreading misinformation? If I were you, I would be a lot more critical about madmen on the Internet spreading wild, over the top misinformation on the covid vaccines, while boasting of audiences of up to 5 million, assuming it's really true. Of those millions are they taking the programming as sheer, bizarre entertainment or taking it seriously? CNN can't draw 5 million viewers.
While I would never wish him as much as death, I kinda wish Stitt's case of covid was so bad he had to spend a week in the hospital, so maybe he could relate closer to how bad the situation can be. Instead, he only had a mild and brief case. Who knows how bad things will have to get before Stitt issues a health emergency?
On KOCO the director of nursing at the Stillwater Regional Hospital said she has lost 40 nurses from the Pandemic. The government needs to help promote nursing. It's not just a shortage of nurses, doctors, too.
The ever-dwindling number of people willing to become doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers is yet another big consequence of the ongoing Covid-19 saga.
You can't blame people for getting out of that profession or simply not choosing healthcare as a career.
After being in a relationship with someone in healthcare for over 2 years and hearing some of the things she has told me that happen at the hospital..... I don't know why anyone would go in to healthcare.... About the only reason she stays is that she does get compensated very well but it's often at the expense of her physical and mental well being.
So what? The number I quoted is for pediatric Covid hospitalizations, specifically, as provided by the state health department, and does not include hospitalizations for RSV. And yes, I'm aware that RSV is also causing pediatric hospitalizations.
Why is this important? Remember it was barely two weeks ago that people on this forum were falsely arguing that Covid doesn't affect children.
Your attempt to minimize the actual numbers of true pediatric Covid hospitalizations, specifically, as provided by the State Health Department, serves no valuable purpose. Further, it seems as if you are trying to obfuscate the numbers that I provided by throwing a red herring into the discussion, which borders on misinformation.
Sounds like your pediatrician is doing the same by equating the tested numbers they have in their individual practice with the state, two weeks before kids return to school. Sounds like an agenda-based argument to me, because it is entirely anecdotal and completely worthless information from a public health perspective.
Again, I'm quoting the state health department, not some random nurse or pediatrician I know. JFC.
I just counted. I know 7 people that are licensed RNs. 3 got licensed and worked as nurses for a very short time and decided they couldn't stand the stress. 2 were nurses for some time but have quit within the last 2 years. 1 is working as a nurse but isn't happy but he has a mortgage and bills. The last 1 is in a NICU unit which is pretty much their own little world and she loves it.
So this just happened in Arkansas:

Can we have that happen in Oklahoma please…
For whatever it’s worth, we had to take our kid back in today as his asthma stuff is getting worse. Was told that the covid results would be in today (tested yesterday), but our doctor said that the tests are now backlogged given the large number of tests hitting the labs. That’s pretty concerning commentary from our dr on what to expect coming up...
If you're anxious, the rapid PCR tests are almost the same level of accuracy. More than likely insurance won't cover it though. Mercy Urgent Cares do them. Takes about 15 min. I think it cost around $50. I'm sure there's others as well, so it may be worth shopping around.
Take care and and I hope he feels better soon.
You can also pick up rapid tests at pharmacies and run them at home.
No Covid on the Weekends? I know someone went to Walgreens Friday morning for a test they told her 4-5 days. SMH
If they are not point-of-care tests, they are being shipped to labs all over the place for processing. I know our tests were initially shipped by DLO to a lab in Texas, and when we got our new contract they were being send to a lab in Virginia. The tests got their quickly, but they were being run in line with other tests from all over the place. Texas and Florida alone are likely causing backlogs in labs all over the place.
I think diagnostic labs are experiencing the same staffing issues as most other industries right now. I had a random DOT drug test at work not too long ago and the sample had to be sent to Philadelphia. I was out of work for 9 days before the results returned (not allowed to work until results clear). I wasn't too upset about it, as those turned into paid days once the results returned. But it has never taken so long, usually our turnaround is about 2-3 days.
FYI Health Watch Clinic at 19th and Portland offers free fast PCR tests. I had a mild sore throat and drainage last week and decided to get a test. You call once you are in the parking lot, fill out minimal paperwork, they swab you, and then you have the option to wait 15 minutes for the result or they call you.
Happily I was negative and my symptoms have since dissipated.
I had no idea about Health Watch until I visited the state health department website.
It was quick, easy, and free. Hard to beat that.
6,328 new cases over the 3-day period. Last Monday was 5,597.
7-day average now 2,011.
Hospitalizations are 973 (+8).
ICU is 264 (-15).
64.2% accuracy with symptoms, according to the CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/...0both%20groups.
Nomad is OK and easy to do. They come in packs of two, so I would do them a few days apart to be sure.
Ellume is pricier and works with your phone, but it also checks for human DNA as a control to make sure you got a good sample.
Edit to add: Ellume also gives you a printed result that can be used for flights and such.
Nice
