If you've ever read Lonesome Dove you might think a pokeathon is something entirely different.

Counties that voted for Trump in big numbers are overwhelmingly unvaccinated. Counties that went for Biden are comparatively vaccinated. There are some exceptions but your efforts to minimize the fundamental truth about this are noted.
    Yeah.

Go ahead and ignore the class component, ignore the push back from the unions and ignore the statistics. Your efforts to support you preconceived notions are noted.

And just for the record I did note the obvious republican and democractic divide in my previous posts. I am just trying to provide a little context.

    1,777 new cases today; last several Fridays: 1,194, 750, 551, 303, 224, 181.

    7-day rolling average 1,351.

    Hospitalizations are 690 (+32).

    ICU is 215 (+7).

    ************

    For the week: 9,459 new cases. Last several weeks: 6,559; 3,925; 1,648; 1,270; 1,151; 1,141, 842.

More than a 10x increase in less than two months.

I guess the upside is I have a feeling this will be a quick and fast burn. Delta in other countries goes up quick then falls off. I am guessing maybe 3 months?

    I hope you're right.

But public schools here are starting in less than two weeks and we'll soon be packing football and basketball seats.

And then you have the colder, inside months and the holidays which last year saw by far the biggest numbers.

I'm not sure I can share the optimism.

If we follow the trend in the UK, we should peak by the end of August here. The obvious caveat is that the UK has much higher vaccination rates than most of this state, so who knows how that will affect things. I feel much more confident in saying we’ll probably end up peaking 2-4 weeks after Missouri and Arkansas, as they have very similar vaccine uptake as we do.

An R value If 6+ for Delta is very eye opening.

What ever happen to number of Deaths and what age were the deaths? Deaths so far have remained fairly flat haven't they?

They had. Ticking up now. I expect them to double or triple in the next couple of weeks, as has been the trend during every spike we have seen since this began.

I stopped reporting them because they are so highly delayed and the state is still playing catch-up with the CDC standards.

For the week ending today, there were 42 reported bringing the total to 8,731.

    The last several weeks were: 23, 26, 24, 26, 31, 29.

And hopefully deaths will stay low as we had a decent vaccination rate for the elderly.

Has there been any research into the number of positive cases to death for each of these strains?

Amazed at this misinformation being spread!

People believe the vaccinated are at higher risk of dying than the unvaccinated. This society is falling apart. Look at these replies to this tweet:

    https://twitter.com/disclosetv/statu...308242437?s=21

“ We said this would happen but nobody listened, now the vaccinated are going to die and cause the unvaxxed to die as well”

“ i think the unvaxxed will probably be doing better but time will tell tbh”

“ Vaccine compromises immune system most likely. Unvaccinated should be safer. Depending on age and health though.”

“ yep its the vaxed who are vulnerable as had innate immune system blunted and messed with”

The lunacy is astounding. Unfortunately I came across this post because my brother re-tweeted it (anti-vaxer)

At this point, fine, let the anti-vaxxers continue to believe this crap and die (no, nobody I care about is an anti-vaxxer, so I don't care if they live or die, sorry about your brother, catch). Sucks for all the people that can't get vaxxed and might die too, but I've done and continue to do my part (vaxxed and will start masking up again).

CNN quated the CDC document I think it was and said it was 7 to 9. The original strain is 3 to 5.

As I've said, you have people actively searching for anything to justify what is mainly a misguided political reason not to get the vaccination.

This short thread from the town manager of Provincetown, MA really sums up the state of play right now, IMO: https://twitter.com/AlexBMorse/statu...39894257266691

I just checked World Meter. I am not sure how accurate of a count of cases this is but todays total with 3 states not reporting is 99,206. I kind of figured by the weekend the US would be around 100K cases, my guess is if the 3 states are added then the number would be 100 K or real close. This is not not at all going good.

Even Fox News is in the midst of an about-face on the subject. I am afraid it is too little, too late for many of their viewers who have bought into the lies and purposeful misinformation of their hosts and guests.

    Anything helps at this point.

I'm not willing to just hope this is going to burn out, especially will school starting and heading into the cooler months.

We are well beyond where we were at the same time last year, and December and January were our worst months.

One of my clients lost his 58 year old brother in law to Covid last week. He had been fully vaccinated with Moderna but had inherent kidney problems.

If anyone has Twitter this thread is pretty sad but eye opening from a frontline nurse that first started during the middle of the pandemic:

I feel for those in the medical profession who are bearing the burden brought on them by the unvaccinated.
