They are amazed how far along we are here.
It is a miracle given how dreadfully our state leadership handled the pandemic. Perhaps due to our poor health outcomes here, we have a strong infrastructure of health facilities, with outstanding doctors and hospitals in our bigger cities. We also have 39 tribal headquarters in the state; could that be a factor, with their own robust organizations getting people shots? Surely that Is a factor.

On New York Times's tracker of vaccinations, OK is in the top 10 of states. WaPo, however, puts us down in the teens. Other states that were behind us are catching up and passing us now.

It will be interesting to see how we continue to progress once we get past the first wave of people who are eager to get the vaccine. As Pete suggested upthread, our advantage as a state may start to fall behind as we encounter a greater than average resistance to getting the vaccine here than in other states.

Here's hoping we keep it up.

Two and a half days since wife's second shot. Arm soreness is all but gone. She just said that she's felt tired all weekend but I'm not sure that might have been her trying to get me to pamper her. LOL!!!!!
    Mine is Wednesday!

So I wonder what that means for the people with appts - are things going to turn messy? Hate to get there super-early and wait in the car until my 1:30 appointment, but also don't want to leave and allow just enough time to get there and find out there's a massive traffic jam...

I could see that being a problem.

Just went to KOCO"s website and their story there said walk-ins are from 1-4 today, 2000 out of 10,000 appts were unfilled.

This is not a good sign.

It could just be that supply is equaling demand where people can to smaller places such as local pharmacies and stores to get them now so why deal with going to the mass distribution spot.

Just one way to look at it

Maybe if the 2000 don't get filled up. I bet that won't happen. From reading posts on various sites since November it sounds like some people were getting so frustrated trying to get an appointment that they were giving up at least until later. A few "we have more shots than people" stories could give the frustrated people hope.

Time to open it up to everyone. Arizona just did.

Got there and the line for those with appointments just kept moving, was in and out in about 20 mins. They had a separate line for walk-ins and it was looooong and not moving since they had to get all the personal info that those of us with appts had already input into the system. Very efficient, much kudos to IMMY for doing a great job!

Honestly, it IS pretty much open to everyone. I'm phase 3 and got a head start signing up before it went public. No one is being turned away from a shot at this stage (kids being the obvious exception.) I've had friends concerned about whether they qualify, and honestly, if you can get it, GET IT. Phase 3 is so vague...if you breathe, you qualify. Just prove you are you. Even all the paperwork they ask you to fill out and bring to the site was basically ignored.

And for those who are in the "I'll wait until it's my turn" camp....it's your turn. I do think there is some hesitation for some, thinking you are taking someone's spot. It's everywhere now.
My parents are in the clear, my gf's parents are in the clear, and she and I will be in the clear in April. Can't wait.

Long time lurker, finally got the nerve to register.

Welcome to the show. I'm phase 4, think I should go?

Good question. I'm an anal stickler for adhering to rules. But. There were 2 notices today of pods taking walk-ins due to appointments not being filled. Maybe it's time to just open up and get as many people vaccinated as possible, damn the phases.

Is there a problem with having Immy labs where you have to sign up and the OSDH web site where they tell you to sign up . If your not really paying attention to things I could see how some might not even know about Immy labs and how to sign up. They might just be looking on the OSDH site and not else where?

There is no problem with as many routes as possible to getting vaccinated. Regardless of whether or not you have internet access there have been pieces on all the local news sources on means of finding a vaccine source outside of the OSDH portal. If you haven't seen alternatives you're literally completely out of touch with the world.

Go. Do it. It's scary to think IMMY may have to dispose of vaccine because not enough folks showed up. Go get your shot.

You would be surprised with how many people are out of touch with the world. Trust me I worked with the public for the longest time until covid hit.

I understand they are doing walk-ins in Amarillo too. The fairgrounds here seems like the best place to do that, if that happens as a regular option.

Feels like it would be a good idea in a month or two for OCCHD to set up shop in some of the larger church parking lots on Sundays. Anything to make it as convenient as possible for people.

Also an FYI - still 500+ appointments open on VaxOKC.com for Moderna at Star-Spencer High School next Monday.

!!! BREAKING: All Oklahomans will become eligible for COVID vaccination through the state starting Monday, March 29th, Deputy Commissioner of Health Keith Reed says.

Sounds like they will also start planning some mobile walk in vaccine sites across the state. Target areas with low vaccination rates or people who don’t want to try to make an appointment.
