This week coming up or maybe more towards the end of week it will be interesting to see the number of cases. If they are low that is a great sign. Reason I say that is everything seem so much busier with spring break. I drive by the outlet mall to get to work and even at 2pm everyday this week parking lot was pretty full. Shopping center on 3rd street were busy. More traffic seemed on the road. Maybe I'm the only one that noticed? Did anyone else notice an increase in more people out for spring break week?

I haven't noticed just this week. But I've noticed for some time all the business you mention plus all the hotels between I40 and the airport have become busier and busier to the point of now looking as busy as ever. This ramping up of everything with cases still dropping makes me hopeful that things like holidays and spring break won't create the spikes they would if everything was pretty much shut down except for special occasions and events.

oh I just put two and two together I forgot stimulus money hitting people's banking accounts this week. You know the money that's supposed to help you pay bills and rent. That's probably a different forum so I'll just leave it at that

Interesting announcement.by the cdc. This will allow double the amount of children into the classrooms. I have not seen a statement from any teacher's unions regarding this change.

Totally anecdotal, but I’ve been using Walmart pickup for my grocery shopping. To get a good weekend slot I’d usually have to book it a couple days in advance (I.e. hold a spot of Saturday by Thursday night). These last two weeks the slots have been open the day of, possibly indicating that more folks are feeling comfortable going in and shopping.

Funny you said that cause I just did an order for pickup today at noon for tomorrow at 9am I figured I had not shot of getting an appointment as like you said if you didn't book 3 or 4 days in advance you had no shot. We could be seeing the perfect storm also. tax money, stimulus money and spring weather

Home Depot pickup was taking from a few hours to a day to get orders ready. Now it's usually less than an hour. I went to HD this morning to pick up an online order and the parking lot was half full at 7:30 on Sat morning.

Between the OKDH delaying daily numbers by a day a couple months ago and now not reporting at all on weekends it's about to a point where the weekly totals might be all that make sense.

I got out this morning to run a few errands with the kiddo. Stopped at Home Depot and cabelas, and they were generally ok. Had to stop at a off-roading store and there was not a mask in this tiny little store. It sucked because we had to go in to fit my son for a helmet. It was gross, but I’m glad I at least have 1 pfizer shot which is better than nothing. Don’t like the kiddo being in there though...

I stopped by Ponyboy last night and it was simply amazing how many people came in without a mask and had to be stopped by the bartender and told to go back outside and put on a mask. All of them looked completely stunned by the request and some didn’t even have a mask with them, as if we haven’t been dealing with this for over a year.

Polar donuts this morning at 9:00 a.m. was about 50/50 mask with about eight people in there waiting in a line Then when I was getting ready to leave a big church group of 15 people maybe 20 walked up and none of them had masks.

We picked up migas tacos from Torchy's yesterday morning and were waiting in the car for the order to be prepared, watching people stream in. The place was hopping and maybe 10% of folks had masks on, even once they got inside. Luckily when it came time for me to go in, they had an alternate entrance for pickup orders vs. dine-in, so I didn't have to get within 6ft of the main line. It was a jarring experience. The vaccination rates don't yet support the number of maskless people congregating - it's like everyone else has forgotten we're still in a pandemic just because the media sentiment has changed.

There was only one family at Target the other day not wearing a mask. A father, in a wheelchair and morbidly obese, and his two kids. This family seemed very, very poor (and I know when you read this it may not read right, but please withhold judgment). Honestly they seemed like they may have come in from way out in a rural area.

When I was checking out, they were in an aisle a couple of aisles over. I overheard the father tell the kids they could each pick one toy out from the wall of small toys situated near the line of registers. It warmed my heart to see the kids eagerly approach the toys, choosing very modest items. Their happiness and excitement were palpable.

The whole thing started with me being annoyed at this guy wheeling around heavy breathing his vapors all over Target, where everyone else was dutifully masked up, and ended with me being very happy for the kids and for this father, who not only received his relief checks, but will also continue to receive monthly payments to help him raise his family. It made me sad and happy at the same time.

Poverty is something that has received lip service in our country for generations, but policy wise, not a lot has been done about it since the Great Society.

My wife and I drove by Penn Square yesterday and the parking lot looked like it does a week before Christmas.

Stillwater's popular restaurants, such as Mexico Joe's, Texas Roadhouse and the Hideaway have looked busier than usual. I'm still avoiding going to them when they're busiest.
