Now, we brace for the post-Christmas spike.
And prepare for the New Years eve spike.
And patiently wait for our turn to take the vaccine.
3,448 new cases today, which is a big number for a Monday. 7-day rolling average 2,736.
13 additional deaths; 7-day rolling average 23.6.
We'll get updated hospitalization numbers tonight after 5 days of not reporting due to the holiday and weekend.
After starting off with low infection rates, Oklahoma is now 16th in cases per capita and continuing to move upward.
The nursing home where mom is had 1 resident test positive last week. Now there's 6. (Expletives)
So far all on a different wing.
Good infographic on current vaccines, progress, and types of vaccines under study: https://www.washingtonpost.com/graph...e-coronavirus/
Only 1,194 new cases today; 7-day rolling average now 2,594.
22 additional deaths; 7-day rolling average now 23.6.
Hospitalizations are 1,927 (+91), easily an all-time high.
ICU is 499 (+37), a big increase on top of what was already an all-time high.
Not just in nursing homes, in the general public. Acceptance is probably going to hamper getting past this.
Just over half are saying they will get vaccinated. Hopefully that will change quickly but I’m not holding my breath.

According to news sources, Oklahoma is starting Phase 2 of the vaccination plan. I've contacted pharmacies, the County Health Dept., my doctor and no one has the vaccine and apparently hasn't even heard of the Phase 2 rollout. I'm in the Phase 2 group and will gladly take the shot. Haven't touched the anti-vac koolaide. So is the vaccine truly available to this next phase or is it a myth and TV stations putting out incorrect info (they don't do that do they?).
According to this, Phase II isn't scheduled to start until January:

I think the firefighters getting it was the beginning of phase 2. But I sure would like my elderly in-laws to get it. If anyone knows anything about how 65+ is supposed to get it, please let us know!
It appears the Phase 1-4 designation is fluid shall we say. One group in Phase 2 is getting vaccinated but not everyone in Phase 2. So it's more like Phase 2, Group 1.
OKLAHOMA CITY —
Oklahoma City firefighters got the COVID-19 vaccine on Christmas Day. This means Oklahoma has now moved into phase two of its vaccine plan, which starts off with first responders.
According to officials, 500 doses of the Moderna vaccine went to the Oklahoma City Fire Department. Oklahoma City firefighters are now some of the first of Oklahoma's first responders to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Fire officials said the 500 doses won't cover every firefighter, but it's positive a start. This comes after the state received its first shipment of the Pfizer vaccine on Dec. 14 and the Moderna vaccine on Dec. 21.
“We don't want to sit on vaccines, we want it moving into people's arms as quickly as possibly,” said Keith Reed, Oklahoma State Department of Health’s deputy commissioner.
According to the states vaccine distribution plan, first responders are first to get the vaccine under phase two, and then it's healthcare workers providing care for COVID-19 patients, followed by adults 65 and older and then pre-K through 12th grade teachers and support staff.
Staff and residents in congregate locations are next, which includes prison staff and inmates.
State health leaders said phase two's rollout won't have an impact on those in phase one groups who have yet to receive the vaccine.
“It simply means we've got enough vaccine out there in the locations that we can continue vaccinating people in the phase one priority groups and still make good use of additional vaccine inventory and access points to start these other groups,” Reed said. “We don't shut the door on one group in order to move to another one and because of that you may see that some parts of the state start to shift into phase two groups at a little different timeline than some other parts of the state. It depends on resources the number of people getting vaccinated uptake access points.”
The state is also expected to receive nearly 44,000 more vaccine doses before the end of December.

So Stitt admin announced today they aren’t receiving or publishing the WH report on coronavirus at all anymore. We were in the top of all states in test positivity in the last one we saw.
Because the WH announced they will only send the report if it is requested by the state. This state will not request the information. Low info voters are who the politicians in this state serve and court.
