In a year full of mind-bogglingly-dumb decisions, this is definitely in the top 10. Good grief.

The Dept. of Health completely changed their website and current Executive Reports are nowhere to be found, so I have no idea about ICU numbers.
    The URL still works, https://oklahoma.gov/coronavirus/new...r-reports.html

Also, it sounds like we're getting the Pfizer popsicles first, with Moderna's vaccine arriving closer to the end of the month

It's absurd that we have to hunt so hard to kind and keep current on all the data. Especially since it was pretty easily available at one point.

Thanks, they must have just updated it.

    ICU is 474, -1 from yesterday's all-time high.

They seem to redo that site a lot. We joke all the time here that our systems constantly get updated just to keep code writers employed.

Neat tool from the NYTimes where you can find your place in line for a vaccine depending on your age, occupation and county:

    https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...-timeline.html

Being a professor bumps me up a bit, but glad to see that higher risk folks, elderly and healthcare workers get priority.

Very cool -- thanks for sharing.

I'm 60 and have health conditions that make me a bit of a higher risk. This is what I got from that site:

Based on your risk profile, we believe you’re in line behind 23.0 million people across the United States.

When it comes to Oklahoma, we think you’re behind 254,600 others who are at higher risk in your state.

And in Oklahoma County, you’re behind 75,600 others.

Interesting that “young adults” come before “everyone else”. So if you are in your 30s you may come before someone in their early 60s, at least according to that tool.

That's the opposite that I got. I'm 32 and in good health, and as I expected I'm at the very back of the line.

"Based on your risk profile, we believe you’re in line behind 268.7 million people across the United States. When it comes to Oklahoma, we think you’re behind 3.4 million others who are at higher risk in your state. And in Oklahoma County, you’re behind 699,400 others."

I'd probably go by Oklahoma's vaccination planned rollout. I think that puts me in group 3 of 4. I expect that to be around late March at the earliest. Located here (https://oklahoma.gov/content/dam/ok/...ation_plan.pdf) Page 19.

Best case scenario these numbers represent is that a major increase in people getting tested before going to family gatherings on Thanksgiving and the tests identified a bunch of people who had it, so they skipped Thanksgiving and avoided infecting their family. Perhaps we'll see a drop rather than the anticipated surge because of the prevention testing offered. If that is the case, it confirms yet another way to stop the spread we've known about for a while (other than masks): widespread testing.

Sorry, but no, we won't see a drop. Not until either mask mandates or business closings are enforced, or the vaccine is rolled out.

In fairness, we've already seen a pretty substantial drop over the last week.

It could just be fewer people getting tested around Thanksgiving but we don't the exact reasons.

Regardless, I've committed myself to be very careful over the next few months. I'm hoping to get the vaccine in early spring and then start to regain normalcy. At this point, that's only a few months and I can deal with restrictions for a little longer if that means the biggest risks are behind us.

We are already seeing a drop. I'm trying to come up with the best case scenario for why that's the case. It could also be that people simply didn't get tested on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so results are low and will rebound.

I'm not sure how to be more careful than I've been but if I can I'm going to be until I can get a vaccine.

Maybe another sign of a dip (though hospitalizations also lag a bit): hospitalizations are down again, second day in a row, down to 1,687 https://twitter.com/KOCODillon/statu...57752296271875

Integris Baptist is at a "code white phase II" which means internal disaster. There isn't a single hospital room available and the line for the emergency room is out the door. (Source: my mother who is a nurse there)

It's just so sad. The nurses and doctors are at their limits... Luckily for my mother, she works in a specialty field that doesn't require her to be around COVID positive patients too often, but I still worry about her.

I’m glad to see our numbers dip down this week, but I also have that feeling that we’re in the eye of the hurricane. We’ll probably see our numbers jump up next week. Just hoping our hospital staff is able to weather this storm.

I actually think our rise in cases over the last couple of weeks could have been the result of so many getting tested prior to the holiday. It's crazy that over 1,700 cases a day is now considered a "drop," but it is about where we were two weeks before Thanksgiving.

So it would make sense that a bunch more people ran out and got tested before the holidays, many tested positive without exhibiting symptoms, and our numbers spiked.

Even at 1700 a day, that is putting a tremendous strain on our hospitals, and our deaths continue to rise. Still, I sadly imagine this "drop" will be short lived, as we see the impact of the holiday gatherings kick in.

Also, it's possible that the mayor's efforts to get folks' attention worked somewhat. It's also possible that many more people now know someone with Covid-19, or know someone who has died from it, causing them to second-guess their Covid-denial drivel.

Sadly, looks like the drop was caused by a data issue.

Heads up: OSDH says an issue with their internal reporting system caused a backlog of cases that will be reported today, for a total of 4,827 new cases. Those cases should have been distributed over 12/2-today. Standby while I try to sort through it.

New cases today 4,827, a new record. 7-day rolling average now 3,044.

24 additional deaths. 7-day rolling average 22.3, the largest ever by far.

Hospitalizations are 1,687 (-47) and ISU is 482 (+8), the latter being an all-time high.

No drop at all. Just weird data glitches from the holiday, as many here suspected. CV-19 is on a roll in Oklahoma. Good thing the governor just replaced a state school board member who supported mask usage in schools with an anti-masker.

What a joke. State leaders, some of whom believe this is a hoax, encouraged people to go out and about, and refuse to implement mask mandates are considered in a phase before teachers? Click image for larger version.
