Yep, this. I finally did, and reading OKCTalk is so much nicer now, it's not worth losing the massive amount of information this site has just because of one ***hole (and, yes, I'd bet the same is said about me, I have no illusions about being one too ).

    Don't confuse "truth" with "opinion".

I'm sure all of the burnt out medical staff who have been working for days on end appreciate hearing from their patients that they just didn't want to live scared.

The unfortunate fact is we live in a state where a substantial portion of the people think like BoulderSooner and simply don't care about their fellow Oklahomans. It's a genuine selfishness that they are proud to flaunt because they think it's a merit badge that shows they aren't controlled by the government, Even when others are dying around them and they can help prevent needless suffering, they double down and reveal just how callous their selfishness is.

The only thing that will save us is the vaccine because we cannot rely on our fellow citizens to do their part.

Did the mayor indicate in his presser yesterday if he was going to be celebrating with immediate family only?

These are the people Stitt listens to. No one else. He doesn't listen to medical leaders. He doesn't listen to front-line workers. He doesn't listen to the business community. He doesn't listen to scientists and experts. He doesn't listen to the mayors of the state's largest cities. Are you seeing a trend here?

Governor Kevin Stitt is best represented by the people in the photo. That is his base.

Just so you know, New Mexico has taken the exact opposite approach as Oklahoma.

3800 cases yesterday in a state half the size and has been locked down the entire time except for September and October.

    Nothings working.

Yeah, but until then, their case numbers as a state looked more like Oklahoma County's numbers. In hind sight, they had it under control.

And again, it doesn't matter really what the rules are, it's if they are followed. If people just gave a crap, we wouldn't even need mandates.

Just one more effort at ultimate stupidity. Today "Cookies" opened where an Arby's was on NW Exp near Portland. Their website says they are a "cannabis and culture store". My wife texted me at noon on her way home and said they had a LINE outside waiting to get in. At 4:45 on my way home they still do. Distancing looks pretty good but I saw very few masks. All for pot. Damn!!!!!!!

This is not true. New Mexico did utilize a mask mandate, but they certainly didn't do the exact opposite as us, which would be a lockdown of all but essential services. They only implemented such a lockdown earlier this week.

They're also dealing with a dire situation in the Navajo Nation.

Please don't quote BoulderSooner. I've had been protecting myself by blocking him for years and you're making me see his posts by quoting him. Thank you for flattening the curve of BoulderSooner posts and thinking of the larger community.

    As of this evening:

Hospitalizations are up to 1,505 (+77), a new record by a fair margin.

ICU is 450 (+29), another record high.

Here's one thing I think everyone should keep an eye on: Is Oklahoma prepared to distribute the vaccine once we receive it? We will likely get a few hundred thousand doses in mid December, but there is significant concern that the state does not have the process and tools in place to distribute the supply to the administration points. If you look at the plan the state submitted to the CDC, it's primarily vague, placeholder language. The state's leadership (e.g., Gov. Stitt and Commissioner Frye) has also struggled mightily to prepare.

I've basically resigned myself to the fact that I'll have to drive down to the DFW Metroplex if I want to get the vaccine at the earliest time that it's being distributed to the general public. I have zero confidence that this state is going to be prepared to distribute it efficiently.

There was a report this evening on the news that was talking a little about this. Apparently, there are very few, if any at all, freezers that can get cold enough to store Pfizer’s vaccine. Area hospitals are currently putting in orders for this equipment. I suspect some delays related to that unfortunately.

I fully expect that unless there is a centralized delivery system that private docs will simply ignore all guidelines and this will be distributed first to anyone who can afford it.

This is the kind of cold storage needed:

Moderna’s vaccine has to be shipped at –20 degrees Celsius (–4 degrees Fahrenheit), and it can then be stored at that temperature for six months. Once thawed and kept in a refrigerator between two and eight degrees C (36 to 46 degrees F) it is good for up to 30 days. Pfizer’s vaccine must be kept at –70 degrees C (–94 degrees F)—a much greater challenge. Once transferred to a refrigerator, it must be administered within five days.
