Yeah, North Dakota has spiked well over their expected death rate.

I guess people are still arguing that COVID isn't killing people though. Weirdos.

    It's pathetic and embarrassing.

I think they're playing a game to see who can come up with the most ways to say "I don't care".

Just read on KOCO that we processed 40,000 tests today! o.O

That’s a ton of tests! They’re really getting after it now. Apparently, there’s a surge right now as people get tested before the holidays.

Keep in mind that we’re at about 15% positivity rates. That would be nearly 6,000 positive cases in one day if the statistics held out.

The positivity is bad. On rt.live a couple weeks ago we were 3rd best. Now we're 29th.

Had to take my wife to Mercy tonight with severe stomach pains and they are pretty over run. We finally left after about an hour as she's in extreme pain and couldn't wait any longer to get somewhere so we went to a rapid care ER at 150th and Penn. I can't wait inside so ran home nearby real quick. It is really infuriating to see someone be in excruciating pain to the point of nearly passing out and Mercy couldn't or wouldn't do anything at all. She seemed to be in by far the most distress compared to the other people in there. If you've got an emergency over the next couple months may prayers be with you because the doctors won't be for awhile.

That's really scary. Sorry to hear and hope she is feeling better. Not a good time to be sick right now, anywhere

Thank goodness for this: First rapid at-home COVID-19 test approved by FDA. https://nypost.com/2020/11/17/first-...ampaign=715955

This is the type of thing that should have everyone very worried. And as I keep saying, it's only going to get worse right through the holidays and probably until spring.

    Hope your wife is okay.

That’s the reason why one of the important statistics is not only COVID deaths, but also excess deaths.

How many people died because of the stress COVID is putting on the system.

ABC News filmed at Comanche County Hospital in Lawton yesterday. This is heartbreaking and horrifying that our hospitals are already at this point. https://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/hos...id-19-74261806

    Wow. No kidding.

I don't know what it's going to take to get people to be responsible.

Also, people are going to be lining up to take the vaccine when it's ready. I can't imagine how they are going to administer to hundreds of millions.

I'm still holding out that it will be widely available by March. Mind you this takes two doses about 3 weeks apart and takes 28 days to be effective. That means a whole month to become immune. I imagine we won't see significant number drops in positive cases until late summer. By next winter we might be able to no longer use masks.

Keep in mind these are only the first two of numerous other vaccines that will be coming online in the next month or so, and given the early results it's likely those other vaccines will be as efficacious as these two. Dr. Fauci hinted that by April/May we should have enough of a supply that anyone who wants a shot can get some.

Keep in mind that the actual delivery and implementation of the vaccine is left up to the states. You can read it here: https://coronavirus.health.ok.gov/si...ation_plan.pdf

Long and short of it is, at-risk folks, nursing homes and frontline workers get it first. EMTs, anyone over 65, other healtchare workers and folks working in confined/vulnerable spaces (shelters, meatpacking plants, jails, etc.) come second. Teachers and university students third, then everyone else.

No kidding. This is heartbreaking. God bless our doctors, nurses and everyone who works at hospitals.

I wonder what impact our governor being an anti vaccer will have on Oklahoma since it will be "left up to the states"

    Stitt isn't against vaccines.

If I remember correctly it was reported during his runoff with Cornett that several of his children were unvaccinated. He may not be an outright antivaxer, but he's apparently at least antivax-curious.

Up to 3,017 today. Mayor Holt is having a press conference at 1pm today. First one since July. I am expecting some more restrictions.

Don't I remember Holt saying in May that his emergency power expired and anything now has to come from the council?

I think he said this. Maybe he could get them to agree to capacity limits, but I also thought he made mention that business closures have to come from the governor. ( I think, I am not clear on my city government vs state government)

I'm not either. I wish now I knew more about local government powers and procedures in a case like this.
