Thread: Weekend in Dallas

    Default Weekend in Dallas

My family and I are looking at spending a weekend in Dallas. We plan to spend an evening at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. As for other things to do and places to stay I was hoping some of you could help me out with some ideas. I have looked on AirBnB and the sort but I was wondering if there were any fun, eclectic hotels similar to the Bradford House; I am thinking something one-off and unique that will be a great experience! Also, send me a few good local restaurants we should hit up.

    Thank you for your suggestions!

I've heard the Dallas World Aquarium is a great place to visit.

A nice view of the skyline from Reunion Tower at dusk (if it's open during covid) is always nice. Visit the farmers market district, deep ellum, bishop arts.

We just spent a week down in Frisco at the end of October to go shopping and dining for my daughter’s Birthday. I was pleasantly surprised at how many places have people who have people dedicated to cleaning high touch areas and how you’re looked at as an outcast if you’re NOT wearing a mask. We had a great time, and never felt like we were in a situation to worry about the virus. We usually go down to Frisco once a year staying at the Embassy Suites since it’s right next to a big mall, Ikea, Legacy Food hall and shopping, and its at the intersection of Sam Rayburn toll way and Dallas North Tollway which is an easy 15 min drive to downtown.

Here are some of our favorites that we usually hit up when we go down:

    https://klydewarrenpark.org/ - Klyde Warren Park

https://dma.org/ - Dallas Museum of Art

    https://dwazoo.com/ - Dallas World Aquarium

https://www.perotmuseum.org/tickets/index.html - Perot Museum of Nature and Science

https://sweettoothhotel.com/ - Sweettooth Hotel – KIDS LOVED THIS ONE, lots of Instagrammable spots – FYI, it’s a Museum, not a Hotel!!!

http://www.nvmusa.org/ - National Videogame Museum – cool trip down memory lane! - Frisco

    https://www.legacyfoodhall.com/ - in Plano/Frisco

https://www.micocina.com/ - Mi Cocina Mexican – several locations

https://mashd.com/home/ - Mash’d – Great Food and Drinks, family friendly, some of the best food we had this last time - Frisco

https://bobs-steakandchop.com/plano - Bob’s Steak & Chop House – multiple locations – Best Steak we’ve ever had, sad to say better than the Ranch or Boulevard which are my top faves in town.

If you aren’t too worried about COVID, might I suggest taking the Heartland Flyer? It’s a pretty fun way of traveling through southern Oklahoma if you don’t mind the trip taking an extra hour LOL.

You’ll end up in Fort Worth but there are rail connections to Dallas. I understand though that may not be everyone’s cup of tea during this pandemic.

Lots of good places to stay and eat in Dallas, but Zaza in Uptown is the first that comes to mind as a really unique and eclectic hotel (this is the first location they opened, but now have a couple more) - it's not cheap though. The Charles in Design District was great last time we went https://www.thecharlesdallas.com/
