One would think so, but based on the supposed leader of this country getting Covid, then still acting like it's a minor distraction instead of a deadly disease certainly doesn't help.

Did we know how to stop it? And could we have really? Slowed it down definitely but stopped it? You can count on one hand the number of countries worldwide that have it under control and two of them are islands so controlling travel to there is much easier. Europe isn't influenced by our leadership so that's no excuse for them. They are doing as bad or worse than the US. This virus simply has the world by the you know what with no answers until we have a viable vaccine.

Yeah, you're right. So at least OKC and Tulsa could tighten up if not statewide. But I'd rather see it statewide. In fact nationwide because every state has horrible numbers right now.

Not really interesting timing at all. Working with the health department on vaccine distribution planning, and based on CDC and FDA statements for many months now, we have all been waiting for preliminary safety and efficacy data to be released early November.

The Saturday new cases were revised down to 4,507 (!!!) and then there were no updates on Sunday.

Today, there were 2,197 new cases reported. So, the average for the last 3 days is 2,235. 7-day rolling average a staggering 1,894. Less than 3 months ago we were at 646, so we have almost tripled that number.

6 additional deaths reported. 7-day rolling average is now 12.9 down from a high of 15.3 4 days ago.


We won't know about hospitalizations until tonight.

Even if we just leveled off at this number, that would still be a staggeringly high average for this state. But I don't see any reason why it would start to get any better any time soon and our leaders are showing no indication that they plan on doing anything about it.

I know it was hard for you to not do Thanksgiving. I missed my granddaughter's birth a couple months ago. My second grandchild. Now my daughter texted me that they're having a 2nd birthday party for my grandson, the first grandchild, in mid December. It's going to be really hard for me to tell her we won't be there but we've been really limiting anything outside the house since March and I don't feel safe there. It will be probably 30 people. Mostly young "invincible" types that aren't taking the virus seriously. I hope my daughter will understand our absence.

I know that I've told my son at OSU to go in for the voluntary testing they provide for students, before coming home for the holidays. Of course, he'll have to get tested in advance of coming home in order to get the results in time, which means he'll have at least a day or two of exposure that he could still bring something home to us.

As we're seeing from Europe, the only effective way to curb transmission besides security theater are full lockdowns until spring comes. The good news for the new Biden team is that we will be at peak winter when he takes office with a vaccine starting to be distributed.

Pretty much. I would add there are some Asian nations that are doing better, but I think that's more a testament to their good genetics and healthier lifestyles.

Everyone else, has pretty much taken turns being the "worst" controlled and the "best" controlled. This would be a lot worse if Covid came in October of last year, at least some of the pain was spread-out throughout the summer and we had time to prep for peak winter, that takes some of the burden off of our healthcare systems.

Well if all goes perfectly a vaccine for wide distribution to the population will be next summer. That puts us right now at the same distance from the first cases to now as we will be from now until the summer. This will be a long winter and I encourage everyone to try to keep safe.

Pfizer is supposedly going to apply for an emergency distribution request as soon as next week. They seem to expect that based on their results it will be allowed and distribution could start in December to health care workers and first responders. January/February for at risk people and March-May for everyone else. Maderna is saying they are right behind Pfizer.

Just a thought (hope?). With Biden winning and therefore no hope of moving into a second Trump administration might that weaken Stitt's stance on statewide restrictions? If not it would almost suggest that his staff has studied the overall beliefs of the public and that those of us that want serious restrictions are truly the minority. Even though we are obviously on the right side of the crisis.

Ok folks. We’re past the easy holiday for the rest of the year. We have started the Thanksgiving planning discussion last night. All of our families are in Oklahoma in rural areas. Sooo....

How are you guys handling thanksgiving this year?

Not doing it at all. We'll place some Zoom calls. Kid's birthday party will be via Zoom as well.

We've taken this thing as seriously as possible. As many of my client meetings as possible are done on Zoom. It's actually more productive than in-person as I will share my screen with clients as I draft their documents so we can be factually precise.
