Very poor stewards of what they built and bad neighbor.
Why are the pols who represent this area not holding this inaction accountable?

Absolutely no one is ever going to question Larry Nichols & Co.

He's still the head of OCURA and the Alliance.

I’m going to predict that BancFirst finishes all the glass on their tower before Devon fixes the 13 windows on theirs

    I wouldn't bet against you.

It’s not like they just don’t care. There’s literally only one or two days a year, if that, that they can replace them. It’s not for a lack of trying. There are only so many days weather wise and so many people available to fix it.

So when high-rises in other buildings need windows replaced, is it the same? How do other cities handle replacement high-rise windows? Or is OKC just so windy/whatever 360 days per year, the equipment/personnel so specialized and rare that everything has to converge on those one or two days and that's absolutely the only time they can replace a window?

One block over, Bancfirst has crews replacing dozens of windows almost every day.

I don't think anyone will argue their indifference to the area, the pedestrians in the area or being a good neighbor. They couldn't care less.
The proof is in not remediating the broken windows in a timely manner.

The leading capitalists in OKC don’t give a crap about citizens, democracy, or transparency. It’s their way or the highway. No accountability to anyone. They run the city, waste taxpayer money, and generally do what they want. So, yeah, of course they don’t care what their elected rep or her constituents want. They’ve been bossing everyone around in this city for so long I’m sure they think they’re running an oligarchy.

They’ve also contributed to positive developments in the city as well.

Doing a lot for downtown in general and doing sh!tty on window replacement are not mutually exclusive.

Was downtown last afternoon & evening enjoying the parks and lights. All is really nice except this place. It looks so shabby and abandoned. It's an embarrassment to the City and the area around it. We live in Norman so don't have a city councilman to complain to about this but I can't believe that City government isn't aware of this eyesore and isn't taking some kind of action. Don't they have a system to force property owners to clean up and repair properties or tear them down? Put a big sign on the door: fix it or we'll declare it abandoned and sell it to Hamm. He-he.

It's now two years in a row they've had that fencing up and not put out their customary Christmas decorations.

Year and a half since the windows were broken.

Wish we could get a national story out there about this, maybe that's the only thing that would force them to give a ****.

How long did they take to build this building vs time to repair these windows

Not comparable at all, but since you asked, I looked it up - 3 years. So it's even more pathetic.

Would not surprise me at all if we have to wait until it's sold to someone who actually cares about making a good impression with it a la Cotter Ranch --> BancFirst

That’s the point I was wanting to make. Shows were just like 5 months from it being 2 months to make these repairs

Perhaps someone in the media should put on their reporter shoes and reach out to Devon for comment about the windows instead of just complaining about it. Perhaps there is a valid reason none of you are aware of?

    "Guest said:
Why won't Devon finish replacing the damaged windows? I counted around 12 that have not been replaced as of 2 weeks ago. Thanks Steve

    Steve Lackmeyer replied:
This is frustrating to a lot of people who once took pride in Devon Energy Center but now see the once open courtyard surrounded by chain link fencing.

This spring will mark two years since a window washing basket got thrown off track and started crashing into windows on the 50-story tower.

I asked Lisa Adams at Devon for an update. She was not able to provide a timetable for completion of repairs, but she did say that even though the public may not see it, there is significant effort and continuous work occurring to further the restoration project."

What a load of sh*t - almost *2* years of "significant effort and continuous work"? Do they think we're idiots?
