Weather September 2020 - General Weather Discussion

Rain chances look good for basically the first week of September. It won't be a total wash, but randomized showers and storms will be possible in waves throughout each day.

It looks like the super hot temperatures are likely done for the year as Monday will be the hottest day this week. With added moisture and cloud cover, the rest of the work week looks to be highs in the lower 80s and lows near 70.

Still on track for our first big cool-down early next week. A nice taste of fall. Looks like we will have some amazing outdoor weather with highs near 75 and morning lows dipping into the 50s.

    Monday morning:

Nice! Just in time for some scheduled vacation time off from work.

Most of OKC has seen at least 3" of rain the last 24 hours. Some western parts have seen over 5.

Storms will taper off this morning and clearing should build in from the west. Short-range models develop another round of storms this afternoon, but it looks like they will mostly impact western into southern sides of the state.

My home weather station in Edmond (near 9th & Bryant) "only" recorded 1.91" so far... Which is still great.

This afternoon, we should have one last shot at wrap-around showers and storms from this system. Then it is a nice streak of weather through the weekend. We are still on pace for a big cool-down next week with morning lows in the 40s and 50s.

    Storms later today:

Tuesday evening looks like the timeframe the strong coldfront will come through. Rain and storms, possibly severe - and cold (September standards) air rushing in from behind.

Wednesday - Friday morning lows will be in the 40s, Wednesday high probably won't make it out of the 50s. A decent recovery back into the 80s by the weekend.

Consider the week like an appetizer for fall.

Going to be brutal for the trees here...not looking forward to it. Denver has a realistic chance to go from 100F to 32F in 36 hours.

The storm looks like it is going to track a little more north than previous forecasts indicated, so slight bump up in temperatures - but the cool down is still going to be dramatic.

Rainfall estimates focus heaviest rains on W OK where they need it the most.

Dry and fall-like weather continues. Amazing weather for OK this time of year. Looks like this will continue through the EOM.

Very slight chance of rain shower or two Thursday evening, does not look significant.

Rain chances increase tonight as tropical storm Beta dies across the TX coast. Best shot is eastern half of OK, nothing too significant expected. OKC may barely miss out on the moisture as the cutoff to the NW will be fairly sharp.

This coming weekend looks like our last "summer" hurrah. Forecast looks sunny and hot with temperatures in the upper 80s.

Next cool off comes Tuesday and looks like our consistent fall weather begins heading into October.

No solid rain chances until maybe a week or so into next month.
