By the places that are busy and the number of people without mask on, no wonder we are 5th in the nation in covid rates.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m really getting burnt out in regards to this pandemic. I look forward to the day with relish where we can watch a sporting event without a reminder of covid, go to a restaurant, or take my son to the toy store.

I think many people are “over it” and unfortunately we won’t get back to normal anytime soon unless people take it seriously. As much as hate to say it we’ll likely be dealing with it and thus wearing masks, social distancing, limited capacity at restaurants/concerts/theater/sporting events, etc for at least another year maybe longer.

There is no such thing as our pre-COVID normal life. It is simply a new, worse version of life known as post-COVID that we all have to learn to adapt to and survive.

It seems like in most larger cities the number of cases continues to trend upward. I don't think its just because of the rapid tests being added. I am keeping up with Edmond and new all time high of 316 active cases. And people are still going into stores not wearing masks.

The best outcome would be reduced flu cases due to covid precautions being followed. That’s what other counties have seen during their flu seasons, but they are also not the US and don’t have the same political dimension to it all.

Deer Creek Schools will have a “student walkout” this week. I’m hoping it will show the limited support for 5 days in our district.

Good for them, I was part of the student walkout in 1981 or 82 supporting the teachers strike, glad to see this generation of students are doing something even if their ****wit "leaders" won't.

Gosh, I'm shocked, just shocked, I tell ya...

And as far as "being over it", yeah, saw quite a few (older - 60-70-ish) people in Lowe's not wearing masks, told the employee I asked to help with high-shelf items, he said "I can't do anything, I'm not a cop". Homeland on 18th/Classen might as well remove the one-way signs, half the people are ignoring them, and when I call them out, they just don't care (with one exception of a nice lady who said "Sorry, I've been trying to go down them the right way, but they've all been too packed, so I just went down the first clear one"). One ***hole asked if I was a cop, and I said "No, concerned citizen who wants this all over with". Seriously, if you can't read the big signs at the entrance and all over the store at eye level, and at least 3 on the floor in each aisle, then you just don't give a ****. If you're driving, do you drive the wrong way down a one-way street unless you see a cop watching you? No? Then follow the arrows at the grocery store or go to one that doesn't have one-way shopping.

Well, the student walkout is the small number of parents pushing for full in-person learning instead of AB split, even as our cases are rising.

I’m for students participating as long as they know why and aren’t used as props.

There was a petition that about 10% of people signed demanding we go back to full time, followed by a Facebook poll with 10% in favor of going back full time, followed by the “if were can’t have our kids full time we will have a walk out” protest this week.

If it’s the same 10% of families, it should be fairly low impact though.

Norman is in Orange 2, so per state guidelines they should be virtual anyway.

The high school has about 1/3 of the normal amount of substitutes. This then results in multiple classes being held in the gym or auditorium which impacts contact tracing as students are not in assigned seating classrooms.
Irving Middle School had 5 out of 11 electives teachers out the first day.
Trying to have in person classes is a dumpster fire.

I guess a number of people still aren't taking covid seriously. But young people do get sick from it, like this OSU quarantined student who had 103 fever. While it was bad, I'd rather have strep throat. Back when I had it, my doctor said I had to miss work for 3 days and got over it quick from antibiotics:

As of Friday, Mustang Public Schools has had 59 Covid cases and 847 quarantines in the district, almost half of which were in the last week. Not a great trend.
