Why should I care, I’m not at risk?

Do we have a casedemic https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload...JeMzEXGPZiASG8

Long skip the first half if you like. 22 minute mark is good start Are we testing too much? Are the test picking up too much of the virus? Do we have a casedemic?

Anyone notice in the new iOS update they added exposure notifications. It keeps a log on your location and can cross reference that with reports of those who tested positive for COVID and alert you. I thought that was pretty cool so I tried turning it on and since I’m in Oklahoma right now I selected my region and it said local health authorities have not authorized this type of technology to be used. Shame. I’d like here more from those who have used it elsewhere.

Ya it was in 13.7. Not available in Oklahoma.

There was a video on KFOR this morning of Edmond parents and students protesting for 5 day a week live school. There were also a lot of “Masks Suck”, “Stop The Mask Madness”, etc. Is it any wonder we have a problem with this virus?

Are we having any more of a problem with this virus than other viruses? Is it just cause the cases at too sensitive? The video I posted is very interesting. Explains a lot.

He emphasizes Europe having a casedemic based on lots of new cases being recorded but much lower hospitalizations and deaths than in the past. We have been level or barely going down in hospitalizations since July. Deaths are going up on a 7 day average. So his concept really doesn’t fit us. Yet. Hopefully.

Wish we could be more like Spain arresting the surfer that refused to self-quarantine. (Cue the "that would make us fascist, take away all our liberties, we aren't in martial law, all that other BS" crying.).

    No, it [the video] doesn’t

Testing doesn’t create cases, the virus doesn’t care if we know that it inside a person. The same people are sick regardless of testing, and the same person is infectious regardless of testing. 190,000+ people are dead because of the virus, not because of testing. Countless others will have long term health complications because of the virus, not be abuse of testing.

The only thing testing provides is the ability to track cases, contacts, and to isolate infectious people to help slow down the spread. That’s it, that’s all it does, that’s all it has ever done. And our percentage of positives is still high enough to show that we are not catching enough people.

I think there is more antimask people in Edmond then other places in Oklahoma. My observation.

This virus is more deadly no question about that. However it's kind of following the course of all other viruses. Are the test are too sensitive. Are the test picking up dead cells. People are still testing positive for months afterwards. Is it really cause they are still infected or are the test giving too many false positives? If the average hospital stay is only 5 days according to Mr Stitt today then why are the numbers not going up or down very much? Are 30 people leaving the hospital and 15 more coming in. 30 leave in 5 days 40 come in that seems odd to me. Could it be that there is a group that is sick and been in the hospital for a while? Are there any sites that give the total number of discharged vs the number of new people coming in?

We had a casedemic with H1N1 also.

The results on page 1 of a google search for “casedemic” paints a good picture of where the argument originates and is spread.

the problem with the masks, and let me preface with that I wear one all the time in public when i am around people.

the 1st 2 months of this thing, the CDC and Fauci said that make didnt work against the virus, so no point in wearing them.

then the next 5 months we were told that a person should wear a masks to save other people. The other persons mask was to protect you from getting the virus.

Yesterday the CDC director said the mask will protect the wearer better than a vaccine?? I thought the mask was to prevent other people from getting your droplets and not for your own protection?

    Its getting confusing......

March, April, May, June total cases 13,435 July 15th 613 in the Hospital
July, Aug total cases 45,118 September 15th 528 in the Hospital

More testing yes? More young sick yes? Cases too sensitive Maybe?

1,034 new cases today; 7-day rolling average now 945.

165 new cases in OK County.

    6 more deaths.

The number of people dying has gone up significantly, so this is a silly argument.

You really seem determined today to convince (yourself?) that the virus isn’t as serious as it once was. Maybe because you’re self admittedly stir crazy and want to go out and be normal. So go. But the virus is just as serious as ever or more.

I definitely wish that we had gotten more consistent mask requirement recommendations from the very beginning of the pandemic.

One thing that came out in just the last few days is that way early on the Post Office had plans for mailing disposable masks to everyone in America, but it was quashed because of higher ups not wanting to create a panic. I feel like more of a panic might have been good if it got people to take it more seriously.

I'm not really saying that per say but I can see where other people are coming from I'm just trying to look at it from a different viewpoint I'm still not going out and I'm still not going anywhere Tuesday was my only hurrah for a awhile that being said people want to look at the science and the number and when I post science and numbers people still don't want to listen. Do you have the answer as to why we have like 45,000 cases and no more in the hospital than what we had when we only had 13,000 cases? There is way more going on than any of us know

Why oh why are people always listening to some quack or Facebook conspiracy theorists or anyone with a Youtube account????

This country has an entire crew of scientists that do this all day, every day, are not politically aligned and universally respected. They offer great, comprehensive data and clear advice.

It's very simple: follow what THEY are saying and stop listening to a bunch of random people on the internet.

The fact that people refuse to do this has caused our great and rich country to be way worse off than just about everywhere else, including a bunch of 3rd world places with a tiny fraction of our resources. And it's killing people, our economy and way of life in the process.

Wait, my mistake on this, they would have been reusable masks which honestly makes much more sense. So much sense that it didn't happen.

It sounds like you’re comparing total cumulative cases with current hospitalizations. Apples and oranges. If not please explain what you are saying.

Just wondering why we have so many more cases and not any more hospitalizations. Also take into account how many never got tested that probably had the virus. I'm not trying to downplay the virus but i also do think it's somewhat over hyped or going in that direction. How come there has been nothing on the news local or National about the possible treatment that was found from the university of Pittsburgh
