Well that is just silly. When have we ever needed one for mass use before?

i don't disagree with this which is why i said in the next year ... vaccine development on average takes 10-15 years

While vaccine development can take years, researchers aren't starting from scratch to develop a COVID-19 vaccine. Past research on SARS and MERS vaccines has identified potential approaches.
COVID-19 (coronavirus) vaccine: Get the facts

The Mercy Go website says something like "due to limited testing supplies asymptomatic patients will not be tested for Covid-19". It also said if you had symptoms they preferred you to do a video consultation first.

But there was also some contradicting info on their website, so I reserved my time slot and specified 'Covid-19 related' from the on-line registration menu.

I asked the nurse if they were constrained on testing and she said they had been for a while but that is no longer the case.

Not knowing the cost to me is troubling but I felt like I needed to be tested right away.
I also have BCBS and got tested twice in August and there is no charge to me at all. I had a rapid test done at an Immediate Care Urgent Clinic that involved a doctor examining me, and then had a lab swap done through SSM. Insurance paid their contracted amounts with the providers and I paid $0, not even my usual copay at the urgent care for seeing a doctor.

Exactly. There has NEVER been worldwide motivation like this to develop a coronavirus vaccine.

We never broke the sound barrier until we did. We never landed on the moon or Mars until we did. We never had laser treatments for sight, cancer and on and on until we did. Just to assume we won’t do something because we haven’t done it before is asinine.

More than just that, biochemical engineering has advanced in amazing ways since vaccines were originally developed. It's a different playing field than it used to be.

And the whole world working on this together while pouring unlimited money into it.

Medicine has changed a lot over the last 100 years. Plus we have been working on cornoviruses for years. I'm not shocked if we have something by the end of the year.

On another 7 day average is as high as it was in Aug? Are mask really working? If so How?

Also I want more detail on Hospitalization. They have been 500-560 now for well over a month. How are they same about leaving that are coming in with the high numbers we have. Or of those 500 plus in the hospitals how many have been over a month. That would make a huge difference. You have 550 in the hospital but if 300 of them have been in there for over a month then you have only had 250 in and out over the last month. I kind of feel like we are not getting the whole story on hospitalizations.

Just to the mask question. If they are working, and I think they are working, think what the numbers would be without them. There are too many asymptomatic, non-mask wearing people out there spreading the virus to hope for cases to go down for a while. Probably until we have a vaccine. Staying level is the best we can hope for.

They have to be worn to work.

And again. We now have in person school starting so I expected cases to go up. There is no way you have that many people in a building without this spreading.

And, even then, people have to actually get the vaccine.

Are the people that are in favor of it spreading now, or doing nothing to help stop the spread, going to get a vaccine?

Week over week #8 in increase per capita as of 09/07:

Midwest states are seeing an uptick in COVID-19 cases. Here's how the virus is spreading, state by state

And they haven't gone down since then.

Agree but other states numbers seem to be coming down where Oklahoma just stays steady. Why? New York City has less cases than Oklahoma?

White House report places Oklahoma in top 5 for positive test rate and daily COVID-19 cases

Oklahoma continues to one of the states hit hardest by COVID-19, according to a new report from the White House Coronavirus Task Force.

Oklahoma has the fourth-highest test-positivity rate in the nation as well as the fifth-highest new COVID-19 cases daily rate per capita, according to the report released on Wednesday.

The new rankings place Oklahoma in the “red zone” for the 10th straight week dating back to the first week of July as the state continues to see more than 100 new cases per 100,000 population.

Unfortunately, we're not steady. It's been going up.

But the main difference is most likely in differences in behavior. For example, I don't think you can go to bars in NYC, yet, and restaurants haven't opened indoor dining. We've been able to do that here for months without masks. Large indoor gatherings seem to drive the caseload and increases the most. We have had them for awhile now and they haven't.

Even with cities having mandatory mask ordinances, many people still chose to not comply. Case in point, going into Lowe's in Edmond an hour before closing, I would guess about 3/4 of the people coming in to shop did not have masks on. Also I wonder how many people are not wearing masks at their churches? How many chose to or say " God will protect me". We wear our seat belts and not just say God will protect me. God works through our actions for good. WEar your mask. I am also getting tired of being called a sheep for wearing one. One does not have to believe that they work, one can wear one out of belief in following the law and as a charity to other that do. Through out this, I am seeing a lot less good manners as well as charity for others. One case in point is while shopping at Aldis a man came up right me behind me and reached over/around me to pick up an item. How is it ever right for a strange man to get right behind as in a few inches from a woman and do this?? How would you fathers or husbands feel about this happening to your daughter or wife. Common people, what has happened to people??
