Thread: Covid-19 in OKC (coronavirus)

Stitt needs to be removed from office. It’s plain as day at this point. He had had multiple leadership snafus going back to day one when he recommended people go out and eat to support businesses only 2 days before shutting the state down. He hosted the trump rally when we were just starting to spike. He was the first (and only?) governor to catch it. He’s openly anti vaccine which is more than concerning when it comes to this disease. He’s lied about what the data is saying, e.g. “everything is great. We’re doing great!” He LIED about these white house reports!! We’re one of the worst states in the country in how we handled this virus despite how spread out our population is. We’ll see how he handles schools here in a week or two. Regardless, he needs to be removed at this point.

Why don't you take this over to the Politics thread and drum up support and file a recall petition if you're really serious?

I get more confused all the time. This makes it sound like plasma therapy has just been approved but I’ve donated therapeutic plasma 4 times starting about 8 weeks ago.

But Gov. Stitt is guilty of no crime, just some governing that some people find intolerably wrong and controversial. So it's up to voters to remove him when time for his reelection, something I certainly wouldn't count on happening.

A state wide elected official can't be voted out by a recall.

All true and accurate. And while he could have done much better I hold the people that won’t do what science obviously says is the right thing to do more responsible than any government official. Also, the same people screaming Stitt is responsible for this would be the same people screaming “oppression and denial of rights” if the governor’s office tried to enact any non-COVID mandates at any other time. Either the government is going to have the authority to dictate what we can and cannot do or not. I say not and the PEOPLE need to think about each other’s well being. And wear friggin masks + keep your friggin distance!

Don’t know if you guys have seen it, but there are starting to be reports of covid cases in multiple states that have been traced back to Sturgis. Things are about to get out of hand in a big way.

There were nearly 700,000 bikers at that rally, and as you may have read, masks were a rarity up there. Bars were packed nightly. There was a report of a sneezing contest (!!!) at one point. Not good...

Due to average number of cases exceeding 20 for the past week in Payne County, Stillwater moves from yellow to orange, meaning all school classes must be online. No school monday to prepare.

Enid, which is running not far behind Stillwater in total positive cases has found 30 cases in its school system.

So... somebody on Twitter posted that the White House reports are now on the State of OK website:

    https://coronavirus.health.ok.gov/wh...rus-task-force

Sure enough, they are online and able to be downloaded, but I don't recall these EVER being mentioned before! Does anybody know if they have been on the state website the entire time?

I think it was something Dr. Birx (forced?) had Stitt do. I dk Pete probably knows more

Right, and South Dakota is no where near suppression like the more populated southern states are at now. A good amount of the people going to that rally are probably not coming who live in metro metro areas either. If you are going to have a rally, its dumb to pick a state that is below that 2 to 3 percent threshold. I would have also like to have seen schools/colleges hold off until Mid-September when everyone is solidly above 2%.

On the positive note, Oklahoma County reported its lowest number since 6/22.

Dillon Richards says the rumor that OSDH has changed which positive tests are included is untrue.

Thanks Bunty. I wasn't aware that it wasn't a thing in Oklahoma.

So it is still “just” the positives from rapid tests that are uncounted.

Apparently this story is what forced Stitt's hand, according to random Twitter people:

I am not so sure of that -- did he risk the lives of 3.957 Million Oklahomans by hiding the CDC reports (1). Didn't he wasted $2 Million in Oklahoma Tax monies buying trump's placebo(2). Also, didn't he enter into an illegal compact with Indian tribes(3)? All of these seem criminal...

But as far as I knew he only got pressured or “forced” to admit and post the recommendations. But has any real action been taken so far?

If Stitt broke any laws from above, I certainly don't expect the Republican State Legislature to move to impeach and oust him. Once again, it's up to the voters to throw out Stitt when reelection time comes, if they don't like how he has governed the state.

I can see Stitt being impeached and ousted, though, if he puts the entire state under lockdown, due to covid and refuses demands to lift it. But can't see him doing such a thing.

I was relieved to see this report tonight. I appreciate that Dillon Richards goes to great lengths to clarify information in his reports, and immediately address rumors like this.

N/m. I was speculating on a possible Senate vacancy, and decided to delete.

CDC now recommending asymptomatic people who have been exposed to the virus not get tested unless they begin showing symptoms.
