Your remark is less than genuine, it appears Dr. Fauci had just taken a drink while sitting next to his wife and a close friend, yet distanced from any one else.

Not saying to stop. But putting our hopes in our state's upper management, and yelling on here is not going to make a difference. If the virus itself didn't change his mind, I don't think anything will. He is that stubborn. We need to keep at it, but also need to figure out more alternative measures, as well.
I am not bashing you, just saying that expecting anything to change Stitt's mind is, to quote Gandalf in LOTR, "a fool's hope".
Really when you think about this it's not that difficult to understand. Just stay the hell away from people as much as you can. I know at some places it might not be that easy but do you really have to go to the bar for a drink? Do you really need to go out to eat? Do you really need to go to the casino? Church? Haircut? The Mall? If we could just for 2-3 weeks stay the hell away from one another we might get the numbers back down.
1. This is a discussion forum, which is read by many people. Pete can attest to how many eyeballs pay attention to this. Regardless, there's nothing wrong with the discussion. It's the point.
2. It's highly possible to question leadership here -- and in real life. Speaking for myself, I do both.
3. Some people take a very long time to open their eyes to a given situation. Elected officials are under pressure from the public. Posts made critiquing the governor here may not be ready by him but they may be read by people who influence him directly. Also, posts here can be effective in swaying public opinion. I would be shocked if everyone on this board feels the same way today about Governor Stitt as they did on March 1st.
Pretty much this. Has Stittiot ever said he was wrong, mistaken, oops, or expressed anything that would indicate he messed up WRT the gaming compacts, masks, OK's current COVID-19 situation, Gateway's misdeeds, or really *anything*? Seems to me he just puts out some BS press release that doesn't state he was at fault at all, even just the teeniest bit, for anything he's done that's collapsed on him. Malignant Narcissist, Jr. IMO...
I would compare him to Fonzie saying "wroorrrorrorrrr", but he's not fit to even look at Fonzie's jacket, much less be compared to him.
I don't know how Kevin Stitt can go out there, look at a camera, and claim we haven't seen any spike in cases and are on a "plateau".
Is his team showing him fudged data? I refuse to believe someone would be that depraved to lie like this. I feel like I'm losing my mind.
He's also "not familiar" with the State Dept. of Education/Health's guidance regarding school closures with their color-coded system.
Even if you want to quibble on that plateau point (which I still believe to be completely disingenuous) how could ANYONE say we haven't seen a spike in cases since re-opening? I'm just at a loss for words.
I get that he wants to reopen schools. But the steps to do so safely was to make sure the community didn't have many cases. He completely failed at that and has made no effort to fix it, instead choosing to plow ahead and gaslight anyone with concerns.
Must we continue to respect stupidity?
“One may protest against evil; it can be exposed and, if need be, prevented by use of force. Evil always carries within itself the germ of its own subversion in that it leaves behind in human beings at least a sense of unease. Against stupidity we are defenseless.
“Neither protests nor the use of force accomplish anything here; reasons fall on deaf ears; facts that contradict one’s prejudgment simply need not be believed – in such moments the stupid person even becomes critical – and when facts are irrefutable they are just pushed aside as inconsequential, as incidental. In all this the stupid person, in contrast to the malicious one, is utterly self satisfied and, being easily irritated, becomes dangerous by going on the attack.
“For that reason, greater caution is called for when dealing with a stupid person than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.”
Why, if it's correct? And what makes the article "far-left"?
Do you agree with the sentiment?
Oh, and the quote wasn't written by the author of the article, it was from a Lutheran minister that got hanged in WWII, not sure if you read the article...
This is from the article and why it's relevant in this thread - (Stupidity, moreover, is not in the eye of the beholder when the medical, scientific and good-government consensus is that wearing masks is good, not wearing masks is bad.)

Oh, I agree with it, to an extent. I will never treat people who disagree with me with hostility. I will tell them why they are wrong, but treating them angrily, it helps no one, since it usually tends to push them further away from the light. Just my opinion.

What makes you think a couple weeks would do anything real? Here’s what would happen. We shut things down for two full weeks. In a three to four weeks the numbers would undoubtedly go down. We open back up. Within a month we’re right back where we are now. Absolutely no reason to expect otherwise. There is no quick solution to this. Any solution will be months long.
There will always be Coronavirus's around, so immunity is almost impossible. The goal is to lower hospitalizations to a manageable level. Granted, hospitals usually should be operating near full, and for much of the year, haven't. But still, hospitalizations need to be the primary concern.
I hold him in the same low regard now as I did when he ran for office. All one needs to do is look at the consumer complaints filed against his mortgage company to know he is a low life grifter...God I wish Cornett had won.

That is just unnecessarily insane! Contrast taht to Stillwater in which it was Thursday evening and teh council was discussing when the mask ordinance should go into effect. The mayor suggested it be Monday to give churches plenty of time to prepare for it. But the vice mayor said it should go into effect as soon as possible. So it was decided it would go into effect on Saturday.
I haven’t understood the delay of mandates at all. We’ve been in this thing to be used to it and be ready to adjust to any mandate immediately. And Edmond’s mandate I really don’t get. Are they living in the dreamworld that maybe by Aug 1 things will be better and they won’t have to actually have the mandate.
No just an unworkable compromise. Half the people want a mask ordinance and half do not. So lets make one but not have it go into effect for a month and not for that long. Also no teeth for enforcement. Now everyone is only a bit unhappy or they the council thinks. Basically totally ineffective except maybe to get them reelected to the council.
