Everything is fine. We could be over 1,000 cases a day for 14 days and everything is fine. Oklahoma is doing better than most states. OMG I think the virus is affecting his brain.

I am happy to see Walmart and Sams Club requiring masks as of July 20th.

Lol I mean I guess. It seems like he has symptoms consistent with a mild flu. It probably would be better for those who want more restrictions going forward if he actually felt the burn a little (*To be clear, I'm obviously not advocating for that in anyway and hope he makes a quick recovery*). If he blasts through this after being mildly sick for 2 or 3 days, what's that going to do to the mentalities of Oklahomans who already aren't taking this very seriously.

I wonder if now the other cities around Okc will now consider a mandatory mask ordinance?

I wonder if he took one of those cognitive tests that seem to be in vogue now.

So based off of that press conference, it seems at a state level we are going to basically wait around until we hit a daily case count of 7,000+? This is insanity.

It is called the "Florida Method"

Norman has been out in front of this already. Holt and company had cover then.

Mayor Holt just tweeted that they're voting on a mask mandate this Friday.

I think his house has a RATT problem.

It wouldn't help matters. Trump said doctors were astounded by how well he did on his. Yet, yesterday he said Obama and Biden stopped the tests.

On camera, Stitt didn't look real well.

    1,075 new positive cases confirmed.

    4 additional deaths.

My disgust toward Stitt has reached new heights today. Not only is he refusing to even consider a mask mandate, but he says he has "no regrets" about foolishly going around to various places without one. Who knows how many of his own citizens he's exposed, nevermind the example it sets. I have friends texting me from around the country telling me what an embarrassment our governor is.

Way to care about your own citizens, Governor.

And, relatedly, while hospital capacity is obviously important and we don't want to overwhelm the system, why is this the only metric that matters? Are we only seeking to prevent any additional deaths that would result from hospitals being over capacity? Are we not even trying to prevent deaths from this disease in general???

Here's the test Trump took - it could've been "aced" by a 5 year old (it's a PDF):

Because it's just about the only one they can still spin as cover for a parade of bad decisions and leadership.

Good article, seems to confirm there won't be a vaccine this year. Also, this pretty much says the same thing:

    Absolutely.
All you need is one Code Black for a natural or manmade disaster (those NEVER occur in Oklahoma), one Hep A outbreak at an area restaurant, one food contaminant recall, or early influenza or RSV season, and things look a bit different.
Covid 19 does not exist in a vacuum, all other diseases, pathogens, and human error are still out there too.

I say this with no malicious intent, I hope he gets a little sick... Sick enough to actually see how much of a b**** this virus actually is. If he shows no symptoms, he can say, "See! It's not that big of a deal!"

Holt just tweeted he plans to vote for the mask ordinance on Friday so you can bet the mortgage it will pass.

As I've stated before, you can be sure he already knows how the rest of the council will vote.

Pretty telling study: folks with lower cognitive ability are less likely to follow masking/social distancing guidelines

Yep, not surprising (and yes, I know the cons of actual IQ tests).

The actual research article is talking about a small component of our cognitive processes, which is working memory.
It's such an ongoing issue with media outlets writing headlines to grab views, especially in the sciences.
Looking at the supplemental data for the study, it looks like education level, SES all were the same.
Stupidity has nothing to do with not wearing masks, anymore so than it does with denying climate change.
Science literacy is poor in the US and I am embarrassed by our test scores, but that's not what is going on this particular study.
