The scary part - they only have numbers as of June 12th in the model. Going to be sky high after this week is processed. We were below 1 for the longest time and now we're the worst in the country. notgreatbob.gif

It will most definitely keep going higher and higher until people start taking masks, etc. seriously.
I’ve watched this since you posted it the first time. At one point a couple weeks ago there were, if I remember right, as few as 9 states above 1. Today there are 19. I think yesterday it was 20. So we’re not the only state having a surge. This thing needs to be taken seriously. BIG TIME!!

We are at a small BLM rally in the Deer Creek area, at least 90% are wearing masks.

VERY happy to hear that. Actually most of the the BLM rallies I’ve seen coverage of the attendees were wearing masks. Good on them!

Info on protests: fewer than 1% of Seattle protesters tested positive for COVID-19

Wearing masks and being outside matters

Where does the new hospitalization/currently hospitalized numbers come from? The OK DHS executive summary for 6/18 shows a far lower increase.

Edit: Never mind, I see what I was doing wrong. I was comparing the currently hospitalized vs. the previous day's currently hospitalized, and did not realize that several pages later it gives a "total hospitalized" number that I should have been using instead.

Mayor just posted something about how he is just now seeing the data and he will have an update hopefully tomorrow but it might be a few days.

Since I doubt he will shut everything down again. (Lets be fair, he knows if he tried it wouldn't be enforceable without Stitt doing something)

I would assume that he would try to make mandatory. That’s what I would try to do at least.

There is no herd immunity and won’t be for years.

I was raked over the coals for saying hospitalizations are going up. Got the “empty hospitals” trope.

Things are rapidly changing. Hospitals have been empty. That can change.

? Making mask Mandatory. I think that is going to happen really soon. Will people still follow it? I would hope so but at this point probably not.

I think it's time to make masks a requirement. The city needs to step up here and save lives.

And if you don't want to wear one don't go out. It's going to be hard for workers though but many have already been doing it. Fast food places could keep lobbies closed if employees dont want to wear them all day and rotate out the drive people Grocery can give people 15 minute break every few hours maybe.

Mask should have been mandatory months ago. Hell once that whole fiasco with the Thunder happened mask should have been mandatory when you enter any public building, grocery store, mall, department store etc. and when you are near other people in public parks etc. Maybe its even possible for trump to have his rally and if everyone wears a mask it may actually be safe. But maybe if college football season is cancelled then that will piss people off enough to know that people need to wear mask.

How are we going to enforce mandatory masks?

Yes. Many places have made masks in public mandatory.

Or we could do like NYC and go into COMPLETE LOCKDOWN for weeks. Mask enforcement sounds like a much better option to me.

Just done today. Until now, it was not very prevalent. I can see OKC doing it for a period, but people will not listen, and the city will have no real recourse.

I don't know about Oklahoma City Wal-Marts, but when I was in the Perkins Rd. Wal-mart in Stillwater on Wednesday, the majority of people in there had masks on. Maybe it's in response to the sudden spike in cases in Stillwater. Due to cases among its staff, Mexico Joe's has had to return to closing its dining and having curb side service only.

It’s not just a trope if hospitals are still mostly empty...37 new hospitalizations is definitely an increase but it’s still a drop in the bucket compared to the beds available.
