SHUT IT DOWN. Sorry it's got to happen. Someone needs to have the balls and say you all didn't listen. You stopped wearing mask. You gathered in large protest So now we have to close everything again for 3 weeks. Maybe next time when we open things back up you all would of learned a lesson and wear a mask.
Oklahoma isn't the only state seeing record high numbers though. I guess protesting and being in large crowds not a good idea after all.
I don’t think them closing anything down is happening anytime soon. I think I read a quote yesterday from the new State Health Commissioner who basically said “we have no plans to go backwards.”
So I guess we just have to get through it, or have the hospitals fill and hundreds start dying
It has much more to do with Oklahomans being too damn stupid to wear masks regularly because politics.
From estimates I’ve listened to, maybe 3-6% of cases could be attributed to protests, but people not wearing masks (and no one enforcing it) is going to be a bigger long term cause.
Unfortunately, an indoor rally with followers prone to partisan health misinformation is setting the stage for a super spreading event. Ain’t good.
I for one will continue to wear my masks and wash/sanitize my hands and everything around the office, cars, house, etc. even though I’ve apparently had it already. Just to be safe.
Let’s not get into a pissing contest. I supported the protests. They are unquestionably responsible for some spread. But to say there’s none or to blame huge bumps on them reflects partisan lenses more than reality. No one knows exact numbers. The bigger point is that things are going the wrong direction in Oklahoma.
BTW, there were 37 new hospitalizations reported today, the biggest increase in over 2 months and only a handful shy of the one-day record of 42.
