I don't understand this mentality at all or what informs it, but on that note, I will only be patronizing businesses where my personal safety as well as the personal safety of the employees is paramount. My wife and I backed it up by buying a Costco membership last week. We have already been three separate times and will continue to go there.
Forcing you to pay money to shop there is okay, forcing you to wear a shirt is ok, but requiring a mask is not OK.
It doesn’t really have to do anything with masks of course, or even COVID for that matter. It’s a political stance above all.
How many “they can’t tell me what to wear” people are OK with the bakery refusing to bake certain cakes for certain reasons...
What's a Costco "Double Platinum Diamond Membership"? Is it like double secret probation?
I don’t know since Costco doesn’t have a membership anywhere close to that name. Maybe it’s like the fancy memberships here at OKCTalk.
Actual post from another thread:
What an insult to our host. Pete does not play favorites.

I tend to agree with those that want to support places that show, with actions, they care about public health and recognize their responsibility to provide a safe environment to shop.
The first rule of double platinum elite is not to talk about it.
This is the problem with the nation
The inability to see or reason through an opposing opinion. I do not think you are stupid or lazy, so your inability to understand his mentality must stem from you ideological. I encourage you to look past your belief system to try and understand the other side. You do not need to agree but for the health of the nation you need to try to understand where they are coming from and why.
Why are you so determined that all hell will break loose at some point. You’ve predicted spikes of “200 cases a day” a few times and when they don’t happen you change the math to extend the timeline. When the data is positive you have excuses why the data doesn’t matter. Why are you so negative?
You can't really "both sides" the facts about the spread of this virus. Wearing masks, collectively, lowers the chance of spread. There is no good, scientific reason to not wear masks. Thus far the only rationale I've seen for not wearing masks is that they're "uncomfortable" or somehow make people look "weak"(?). This isn't a political issue, it's a basic epidemiological issue, and try as you might to apply a warped, tribal spin to it there's just no facts to support not wearing a mask.
Our positivity rate this week was around 3%, the lowest since this whole thing started taking off. The vast majority of new cases are in a meatpacking plant in Guymon and a jail in Lawton. Context matters a lot with these numbers, and for statewide OK, especially the metros, this was a pretty good week.
IF your criteria for good is for the number of daily positives to go down, that will never happen. Ever. The count is cumulative from Day 1, and will never do better than stop increasing (daily delta of zero).
The superior measures are current hospitalizations and current *active* cases. Both are trending downward. This weekend will probably muddy the numbers some due to the holiday.
IF you dig more deeply into the data, down to the zipcode level, you'll find an even more encouraging story. Among the two or three large zipcodes in and around my immediate area, the epidemiological report shows that there is a total of THREE active COVID cases. Within our zipcode only, there is only *one* active case.
Right now, the "hot spot" in Texas county is really distorting Oklahoma's overall statistics.
He said, "I don't understand this mentality." This has nothing to do with if the masks are effective. Understanding why someone else presented with the same facts as you comes to a different conclusion is a basic life skill.
When people can not understand the other sides mentality it dehumanizes them, and makes it acceptable to treat them as stupid or less than you and your group. It is a radical mindset and it is bad for the Republic.
Try replying to me again and addressing my point and not some other point you would rather answer instead.
If people look at facts and use them to come to a wrong conclusion, that just makes them wrong, not having a “different mentality.” 2+2 = 4. If you look at those facts and somehow come to a conclusion that 2+2 instead equals a buffalo, that’s being wrong, not ideologically different.
The reason our “active” cases are going down is because the Health Department is using a completely arbitrary definition of “recovered” instead of basing recovery on actual clinical data or patient status.
According to the tracking, at the 14 day mark you are either dead, hospitalized, or recovered. It doesn’t matter if you are to sick to work, need rehab, or supplemental oxygen at home because of this disease. If you’re not at the hospital anymore and you’re not dead, you are “recovered”.
