And yet, it appears they have controlled it better than us.
Has it actually been determined their wildlife meat markets were the cause of the virus at ground zero, and the initial spread of it? I know that was the narrative earlier but I have missed it if the reputable health organizations have identified that as the cause. Who determined this origin?

In it we see no such credit for meat markets or that China didn’t inform world health officials. We have to quit getting caught up in the bs.
That article doesn’t say anything about where it was transmitted, just that it was likely transmitted from a bat to something else and then to a human. It also doesn’t dispute that world officials weren’t notified as early as they could’ve been. Almost everything that isn’t from a scientific journal that is allowed to speculate indicates that a wet market in Wuhan was the likely source. They are also the most often cited potential source of animal to human virus transmission in nearly every documentary or article written about pandemics prior to this outbreak...they were also the origin for SARS. Time will tell but regardless...there should be regulations in place to make them more sanitary to help prevent things like this from happening in the future.
Disclaimer: I am not an infectious disease specialist and I wasn’t allowed to stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Of course China has controlled this better than we have. They're not facing an internal fight against the guiding principles of their society.
You do some of the things talked about in this article* which surely have helped their pronounced containment, then you would spark a war against the state in a majority of Western countries.

I have very little belief in the # of cases or deaths they report. The government does not want any negativity coming out about them, and since they control a lot of the media, I think it is sketchy at best. Not saying the US has handled it properly, but if you told me to take the China # times 5, I would take the over, in terms of true cases.
Agreed and also never forget China is a totalitarian country with virtually complete control of their society. Don't forget the video's of Chinese police beating people out on the streets. Is that what anyone thinks should happen here?
This is playing out in the standard message board fashion (not just here): a bunch of non-experts arguing back and forth using regurgitated information on topics they don't actually understand. It's clear that many are just trying to convince themselves of their own arguments but don't have the self awareness to admit it. This is going to be a long month (at least).
Are you sure they are non-experts? I'm POSITIVE we have the leading economists in the field here on this board. In a couple of months, our entire democracy will erode and we will be living in a Mad Max world, or so I'm told.
70 f*cking million unemployed might do the trick.
At least we won’t get the nasty cold till later cause “flatten the curve”

The Fed and US govt doesn’t have the ammo to fight that. They simply don’t.
That’s a more severe number than the Great Depression.
So is everyone in agreement - the new normal has set in:
1) Shelter in Place will last another 6-18 months
What we are waiting for :
a)herd immunity
b)vaccine
