Thread: Covid-19 in OKC (coronavirus)

At this point we need to get antibody testing up and running along with the traditional testing. Soon enough, we're going to have just as many people who have recovered from this as people who still have it, and both pieces of information will be important. Once we slowly start to reopen things in 1-3 months, we're going to want to know who had it at one point and then recovered, even if they never officially tested positive, because not only can those people go back to their normal lives, they also won't have to worry about wearing a mask out in public. I strongly suspect that universal mask wearing is going to become a norm once we do start to open things back up, but we may as well save those masks for people who aren't already immune for the foreseeable future.

Or, since some seem to never really show symptoms they could walk around for 14 days or so spreading it. And if BoulderSooner’s comment of 100,000 metro residents currently being infected was true than the majority of the metro has possibly been exposed. This probably isn't the case. We simply don’t really know and all the estimates are pretty much pure guesses.

I, for one, would like to be tested for antibodies later. I'm still fully convinced that is what I had in January. As they publish more news about related symptoms, then it starts to make more sense.

Both an employee of mine and I had fitting symptoms in late December, early January. His were a bit worse than mine. I’d really like to know if we both have already had it.

Same for my brother in the Northeast part of the USA. He and a bunch of his coworkers, they work at a large factory, got sick in January and it was not the flu.

I have read a bunch of the these instances.

If they did the Rapid Flu Test at the doctors office it could easily still be the flu. Up to half of those results are wrong and show a negative if you’re positive.

Just wanted to share this link.... I love this guy's YouTube channel. He makes science extremely easy to understand.

He did a really good overview of CV-19 back about two weeks ago. I highly recommend this video to anyone wanting a really good non-political overview of Covid-19.

Oklahoma is ahead of only Arizona in per capita testing.

Is it an issue with OK not testing as many, or is Oklahoma not getting as many testing kits?

We had a friend die this morning of complications related to Covid-19. She was closer with my wife and would come over for dinners my wife would host for 'ladies nights.' She also volunteered with a group I've long supported.

She was perfectly fine just 10 days ago. She was admitted to the hospital and was actually improving quite a bit. But then her progress stalled and she died 24 hours later.

She hasn't even gotten her positive CV-19 test back yet. But her husband got his and he's positive but not showing serious enough symptoms to be admitted to the hospital.

I’m very sorry to hear that.

My condolences as well BBates. This is starting to affect more people closer to us. One of my coworkers has a close family member who has contracted COV, so our company sent him home for a week. Won’t be long before we all know someone who has been directly affected, if we don’t already and just don’t know it.

Is there anywhere to report misinformation regarding Covid-19? I just heard a commercial on the radio from Men's Health Clinic indicating Vitamin C will help with Covid-19 and you should rush in and get your injection before they run out.

This sh*t is outrageous. Those men's clinics are scams in the first place, selling snake oil to low self esteem men, and now they're outright lying to people. An injection of vitamin C?! Jesus.

I actually had to pick some up for my 90-something year old grandfather that only just now gave in and agreed to stop driving himself to the grocery store. He specifically wanted 100% whole wheat bread and OJ with pulp. Said the stores he went to had none. Went to the Walmart in Edmond at 15th and I-35 and they had tons of both.

Where do we find the luxury masks that Gwyneth Paltrow has been wearing around? Those things are chic as hell.
