Lollapalooza :: Last Band Standing 2007
^ seems like the site ist down.
Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!
Yeah, it didn't come up several times that I visited it, either. It comes up about 3 out of 10 tries.
Last day and the site can't be maintained, appropriately.
I guess if they are gonna bad mouth OKLAHOMA, then we just broke their site! LOL
http://lollapalooza.mp3.com/feature/...a/?band=aranda
Their site is super - glitched!
I finally got it to load, then did the voting procedure and it didn't take it. It came back with this message:
Are you a robot? The text above was not entered correctly. Please try again.
And the text code was entered correctly, but I re - did it anyway, and then it just just hangs there and doesn't come up with the message as previously, "Thanks for Voting."
And I didn't receive any emails so that I could officially cast my vote.
Nuttin' - Nada - Nil - Zipster - Zerox
Last night when I voted I didn't get my confirmation e-mail and when I went back and tried again they said I had already voted. Hmmmm.
ya, something ist going on with their site.
I tried to vote and it is as slow as grandma on i-40 on sunday morning (no offense to anyone, that was supposed to be a joke).
I think, if Aranda doesn't get in then you guys should complain!!!
How much longer is voting? If it is until midnight PST, then I will keep trying.
Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!

OKC ROCKS!!!
It doesn't pay to mess with OK!
Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh BabbbbbbbbbbbbbbY!
Time to get on da BUS!
Thanks for the post. Yay!!!! Good work everyone.
Congrats. And I didn't even vote yesterday due to the glitches. I'm really shocked they got to number one. When I looked at around 5pm yesterday afternoon they were #7 and it was not looking good. Glad they can represent OKC.
^^ metro, ditto that here.
And yes, it is nice that OKC won - Aranda will represent the NEW OKLAHOMA CITY!!!
We CAN make things happen!!!!!
Continue the Renaissance!
Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!
Let's hope that they remember us in Okc after they start selling out stadiums in a few years.
^ very true statement, as most bands from OKC seem to forget about OKC
then astonish - they dont end up so well (ala Colour Me Badd).
Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!
I just realized it last night, Damean, the guitarist for Aranda, used to be guitarist in the band at lifechurch.tv.'s main campus at 178th and Penn.
yep. dameon has played for lifechurch for many many years. i'm still disappointed that the only person from lifechurch that has been there for him during his tough time is stephen cole. if anyone else has done anything for him, i am completely unaware of it. no one came to his grandfather's funeral and no one has done anything to help him replace his stolen gear. stephen cole came to the benefit sunday night (well and stephen and marcus collins performed with their band). i've been going to lifechurch for years, and i am really not liking what i am seeing lately. after all dameon has done for that church you would think they would be more supportive of him.
honestly kmf, I don't think most people know at the church. I've gone their 9 years and just heard the connection last night. I'm not sure if it is a "christian band" or promoting others to a higher relationship with Christ? Honestly I like the guy, but I can't tell that from the songs I've heard. I'm not too familiar with their band so could you clarify? Also, as you may or may not know, lifechurch is not in the habit of promoting bands, movies, outside events etc. There would be way to many things the church would have to promote if they started favoring people despite how many good things there might be. I worked on 3 famous Christian films (End of the Spear, Beyond The Gates, Facing the Giants) that the church was not able to "officially" promote/support. Does that make the films bad? No. There are wayy too many things good for the church to endorse, etc. Now, if lifegroups wanted to support things on an individual basis, the church is all in support of that. The lifegroups (small home gatherings) are really what the church is all about, community, fellowship, doing life together basically as you know. Craig did a good sermon on why we don't officially promote Christian concerts, movies, etc. a few years back. If you haven't seen it, I highly encourage you to. It might answer alot of questions you have. At first I had the same stance as you, but after you hear his points, I think you'll at least understand where the church is coming from, even if you don't agree with all of it. If you haven't already, I also highly encourage you to talk to your local campus pastor and see what their stance/response is on the issue.
I wasn't looking for public promotion. I was looking for personal support from the main people in the church for him personally. I posted a reply in the lifechurch thread that states that all of the staff were emailed about his rough times. And several of the team leaders asked about how the benefit went - after the fact. They have several songs that show their faith - one of the new songs on their album it titled "Testify" but mostly you can notice how it is mainstream rock without any cuss words or negative vibes. It's music that can be played on major radio stations and be a positive influence. Kind of like Krutch or POD.
As far as those movies go - there is more to that story on why they couldn't be promoted at church. ( I work at Hobby Lobby ) But like I said, I wasn't looking for promotion - there was plenty of that.
I was at the benefit on Sunday and played pool against a guy that told us that he knew Dameon from Lifechurch. Don't remember his name but at least there was someone there from the church. By the way, we had a great time at the benefit although we had to leave right in the middle of Aranda's set being that it was after 1am and we had a 6am wake up call Monday morning. There were some really good bands, much impressed. How much money did they end up raising?
