It could have even been a double mural since the fins are protruding like that. From the north it is a mural of X and from the south, you see a Y mural.

For sure. It's it like a wavy wall and not flat? If they could refurb them as flat it would help that process out and probably be easier/cheaper to maintain.

It has these protruding ridges, which is why he was suggesting painting on each side of the ridges so there was a different art work depending on your direction of travel.

It's like if you took a bunch of 1x6 planks and lined them up and then kind of shifted the back side so they are all diagonal. To do it you would need to paint one picture on the broad side (the 6" front, if you will) and another on the narrow side (the 1" edge) and also the space in between the planks. It would be really cool, but it isn't going to happen. Painstaking is the perfect word for it.

If you're asking if I have inside information, no. This is just my gut feeling. They just replaced a bunch of these fins. Seems to me if they had wanted to do anything other than paint it uniformly to correct flaking paint, that would have been the time to do it.

I would 100% welcome being wrong on this.

It doesn't say where they would be expanding, so I assume this will be on their existing site along EKG while providing the steam, hot and chilled water will no doubt require tunneling under streets.

As a reminder, the former Goodwill property is on the SW corner of Hudson and OKC Blvd, directly to the west of Scissortail Park.

The Oklahoma City Economic Development Trust purchased certain
property located at 410 SW 3rd Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, from
Oklahoma Goodwill Industries, Inc. in or around April 2009.

The City Council of the City desires to contact with Veolia Energy
Oklahoma City, Inc. (“Veolia”) to provide steam, hot water and chilled
water to the New Oklahoma City Convention Center and is in the process
of authorizing the expansion of Veolia’s revocable permit to expand its
operations in downtown Oklahoma City. Veolia is seeking an area to
store and place equipment during the construction phase of its expansion
project and has identified the Goodwill property as a location that is
centrally located to the construction project.

The Trust desires to authorize the General Manager to negotiate and
execute a letter of agreement with Veolia for use of the Goodwill
Property as a staging location for its equipment and parts during the
construction of its expansion project in downtown Oklahoma City.

Adoption of this resolution approves the use of the Goodwill Property as
a temporary staging site by Veolia Energy Oklahoma City, Inc. and
authorizes the General Manager or his designee(s) to negotiate and
execute a letter of agreement with Veolia to use the Goodwill Property
located at 410 SW 3rd Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for a temporary
staging area for equipment and parts during Veolia’s construction of its
expansion in the downtown area of Oklahoma City.

DESCRIPTION: Downtown OKC Initiatives and Veolia announce this call for professional artists to submit their qualifications to be considered for a mural on the south-facing wall of Veolia’s building at 1 N E. K. Gaylord, 73102. The art will be:

· Site specific

· Culturally appropriate

· Able to incorporate elements of environmental sustainability

· Monumental

· Able to last 20 years

BACKGROUND: Downtown OKC Initiatives is partnering with Veolia to beautify the corner of Sheridan Avenue and E. K. Gaylord Blvd. The walls of Veolia’s south building are made of louvers, unique architectural panels that allows air to flow to the physical plant behind the walls. Louvers pose a unique mural challenge as a solid surface is not constant. Veolia and DOKC are looking for a creative solution to beautify the south-facing wall with art that aligns with Veolia’s goals of pursing environmental responsibility.

Veolia is the world’s largest environmental solutions company with a vision to solve complex challenges in water, waste and energy in order to shape a more sustainable world.

Downtown OKC Initiatives is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to foster an environment of creativity and culture through public art and activation.
