Zaza Mediterranean Cuisine recently opened off of Penn and I240 and I ate there tonight with a friend. I'm surprised there wasn't a thread on this place already - we were blown away! The food was great and so was the service. The owner came by and chatted with us, and even gave us a free desert. I had the mixed grill kabob and enjoyed all three meats. The lamb in particular was fresh and tasty, and the chicken was juicy and well-seasoned. There were quite a few things on the menu that I haven't seen offered at other local Mediterranean places and I really enjoyed getting to try a few new things.

It's not on the menu, but request kanefe for desert - it's made in-house and delicious.

I don't get over that way much these days but noticed it when I was at Green Acres Market last weekend.

That spot has turned into a restaurant black hole since Aloha Garden left. So I hope they can make a go of it there.

Mediterranean is definitely easy to order keto at. So I'm always on the lookout for new places the try.

unless this place has changed hands again recently, i'd be cautious... i ordered a gyro to go from zaza sometime last year and it was not very good. frankly, it was so bad that i'm surprised they're still around.

The owner acted like they had only been open for a few months, so perhaps he bought it from the previous owners?

Was it 90s Techno or Middle Eastern Techno? Some places play the Lebanese MTV style shows on their TVs... I think Camilyas does. Jerusalem Cafe does too.

My top three is NuNu's, Jerusalem Cafe, and Camilyas. Is it better than any of these? Is it more Greek or Lebanese food?

I wasn't a fan of Nunu's and I haven't been to the other two. Sorry =(. Based on cursory reading I'd say more Lebanese. My favorite is ZamZam.

ZamZam used to be so much better. Once that original (?) chef left, it hasn't been the same.

I've been twice. Once over 5 years ago, and then once again in the past 2 years. I want to like it since it's near me. Also been to B&G twice, once for soft opening, and then again in the middle of the NFL season.

Here's what I ordered, it's a combo kebab plate. I also had the cheese wonton-ish thing. I was told it was mostly mozzarella, but had the taste of cream cheese. Person I was eating with ordered the kibbeh. With the cucumber sauce it was good. Veggies were the best thing on this plate

I couldn't tell if it was 90's or Middle eastern. All I know is that it was most likely a mix by a guy named DJ Omni? World cup previews were playing on the TV.

NuNus is the most authentic Lebanese food in OKC.

Try the hashweh plate with tenderloin with the fatoosh salad.

The desert is kanafa and is essentially made with pastry, shredded mozzarella or sometimes ricotta. It doesn't use cream cheese. It is usually served hot with a sweet syrup with rose water.

THIS! We were regulars at TimeOut until we drove up for supper one night, and the place was....gone. We were stunned.

Black hole is way too apt for that old Aloha Gardens space.

i think so... i'm pretty sure the full name was olga's kitchen. if I remember right, it was where babbage's ended up or right next door. it's been a couple years. : )

While I've only been there a couple of times, I went to Nunu's recently and their tahini sauce (made from scratch daily) is the best I've had in the Metro.
