So many new places I really don't even have a regular rotation any more... Only place I still hit on a weekly basis is El Primo Loco for pollo al carbon and that addictive verde sauce they serve.

BTW, I'm much more of a hang-out and drink and eat a little food type of person so there are loads of restaurants I really like but I strongly gravitate to the bar-heavy, fun atmosphere places.

Or at least places like Yuzo and Chick n Beer where you can have several food items over an extended period rather than one big meal.

Not really any gems left. Most have closed unfortunately..... Purcell does have a new Italian restaurant but I haven't tried it yet. Ruby's, Sonny's, and The Rusty Knot are all good if you are in Purcell but not quite what I would call gems.

Paul's Valley has Mimi's downtown which is a pretty good home cooking diner in their downtown area but I think they only serve breakfast and lunch. Bob's Pig Stand is ok but there is better BBQ a little further south in Wynnewood (Trails End) or Davis (Smokin' Joes)..... I've also been to Punkin's and Tio's in Pauls Valley, which have both been around for years, but personally I didn't care for either.

A little further south in Davis I really like 77 Grill and Burger Land. Both are litle hole in the walls but serve good food. I've also heard good things about Dougherty Diner in Davis but haven't tried it.

Oh and if you go SW out of Purcell on Hwy 74 to Maysville. Baker's Pizza is a slightly better version of the Purcell style of pizza that Jo's and Rodney's have been serving for decades.

Hwy 77 is a nice drive south. Since I am in Ardmore most weekends I generally take it more often than I-35 just to break up the monotony of interstate travel.... Not to mention I-35 from Purcell to Wynnewood has been one big traffic delay due to construction all summer.

Definitely watch your speed because I almost always see law enforcement. Had a motorcycle pass me just outside Paoli a few weeks ago just as a trooper came around the corner..... Pretty sure I got to Paoli way quicker, and cheaper, by doing the speed limit.

I recently went all the way out to Krebs with a friend to eat at Pete's Place. He had fond memories of it from growing up out that way. I was very underwhelmed. You can get better Italian food in OKC...at better prices, too. That combined with the drop in quality I've seen at Meers burgers makes me think the days of those hidden gems might be fading.

They are still out there but just like finding real gems... You gotta hunt for them..... There is a little hole in the wall in Healdton called Grasshopper Junction that makes the best pan gravy I've ever eaten.... Everything else there is just good but that gravy is worth driving to Healdton for... I ask for an IV drip of it when I make it there.

There is another in Colbert called Williams Old Style BBQ... It's a shack that just serves average meat at best but they make a sauce that is unique to the Eastern Texoma area that I would put on road kill and eat it... It's that freaking good!

Tiffany's in Noble, right across the street from Kendall's is another one... I've never been there for lunch but will drive out there once or twice a year just to eat breakfast.

HAHA... That might have to wait until after Thanksgiving.... I'm headed to Lawrence Kansas in the morning for a basketball/football weekend and then headed to the homestead in the Arbuckles for the rest of Thanksgiving week when I get back... So I'm wrapping up loose ends in the office today.

I've only been to Meer's once and was underwhelmed myself.... I did get to see a 4 year old thoroughly embarrass his parents when he proclaimed very loudly that the Meer's burger was almost as good as McDonald's.

Wow, that's an insane amount of money spent on eating out! We only eat out once or twice per week total - on Fridays for lunch on our way to grocery shopping at Uptown, on Saturday afternoons, and maybe once or twice more per month. Which is why I can't really post a list 'cos we eat at too many new-to-us places and only have a few regular ones now and just not enough, period, to make a decent list.
