Hoya its been so long I have no clue what I was intending to say instead of "slime" (autocorrect at its finest).

I know there is supposed to be public art on the corner but as I passed by here not long ago to see the crowd/line for a concert at the Criterion and the progress in the area, it doesn't look like enough space for both the art and pedestrians to walk by; im no expert here, and by no means I am trying to come off as one, just curious how the art will occupy the space where pedestrians will walk by on the sidewalk and people valet there with the trees or landscaping planned along the street.....maybe the fence kind of obstructed my ability to envision it in person but it looks like it will be crowded. Maybe its just me.

I didn't realize how "new" this chain was. After having a good experience with AC in KC, I've looked for it at other travel destinations and found they're either not there yet or still under construction...

Yes, this will be one of the very first. It's also supposed to be an elevated design so I'm anxious to see the final finishes.

Good to see it so close, feel like this project started fast and then limped towards the finish line

Will this hotel have any LED lighting on the outside? Kind of reminds me of a toned-down Aloft.

The design style could be christened as "nouveau hospital."

    Actually, it's pretty nice.

I really love the look of this. Doesn't really seem out of place in Bricktown, but still stands out nicely.

This project is much nicer than any of the other recent hotels. The interior is beautiful (photos don't do it justice) and that bar is right at that highly visible corner.

If all goes well, they will open Dec. 18th.

I have a friend staying across the street for training so when visiting I have been looking at it. It is very nicely done. I will say the sculpture on the corner didn't end up being that special to me.

There are more than that one. The courtyard has the best one in my opinion. Like 2 vortexes colliding or something.

It's going to be very nice.

In the 3rd photo I posted above there are two huge light fixtures that hang in the 2-story part of the lobby. Should be pretty spectacular at night.

Those light fixtures were lit last night and they did look fantastic!

Curious if anyone knows; do all of these downtown hotels require nightly parking fees or are any free parking?

    They pretty much all charge.

Saw on the website for this hotel the fee is $15 / day.

While I still feel that there is a large saturation of hotels in this area of downtown, at least all of them are stepping up their game in dining and bar quality to attract non-hotel customers. Combine that with improved exteriors and street-front interactions to create this great urban district. Can't wait for these apartments to finish also.

"all of them are stepping up their game" is a bit of an overstatement. Aloft was a big deal when they landed here, but the bar has very, very little local traffic and the kitchen has been a complete sh*t show from the get go. My understanding from the inside is that the new Chef is a much needed improvement, but it has yet to catch on with locals. I've heard similar stories from most of the nationally branded hotels as well. Places like C21 are the exception rather than the rule.

I meant more for interior, design, and attractiveness. Menus and chefs can flipped around. As long as the infrastructure is in place other factors can be accommodated.

The paid parking is done to discourage locals from using the spaces when they are downtown right? It you took an equivalent tier hotel and put it like off the Kilpatrick then they wouldn't charge for parking.

Structured parking is much more expensive to build and maintain than surface parking at hotels in suburbs. However, paid parking in suburbs coming as it already exits in larger cities.
