Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!
BG, the prototypes are awesome. As you know I pitched the electronic billboard jumbotron/ticker idea to Lamar and Dave Lopez and it appears the city would strongly support such a project. I was wondering if you could help me design a prototype of the billboard on the Trigen building on EK Blvd and Sheridan. I would defenitely make sure you get the props.
I like the new building in Omaha. By the way Omaha is smaller than OKC.
Sorry, I forgot to put the URL. Oddly enough, the new highrise in Omaha is called, "One First National Center."

While low land values have hurt our skyline, they have been a blessing in giving us more puchasing parity than New Yorkers, and Californians. I think that, speaking of Omaha, our downtown would look just like theirs if Leadership Square was 60 feet tall.
Getting companies lured to OKC shouldn't be a problem. We are America's 8th hottest city, done deal. We have the Kavorka (Seinfeld joke, few will get it)
You mean 60 stories tall...
Has anybody considered reading my Banc1st option 2 thread? That is fascinating. If only plans actually came into fruition as often as we'd like in OKC... but I must say the city leaders are doing a great job right now.
Unfortuntely, plans are always more ambitious than they actually turn out. That's pretty common with development plans, as the plans are always developed to meet different financing options. For example, the Ford CEnter had many add on options, but the money just wasn't there for all of them.
Just look at the Myriad Gardens. The original proposals was for 2 Crystal Bridges, one with tropical plants and the other with desert plants. Due to funding limitations, the plan had to be reduced to just one structure.
Same with the Bricktown Ballpark.....the most ambitious plan called for a 16,000 seat stadium. We ended up with a 13,000 seat stadium.
Whatabout that galleria midtowner was talking about?
Here's what Austin's doing:

and Charlotte:

and Phoenix:

Pretty much all of these involve mixed use. That's definetely the way we can pull it off in the next few years. In my opinion for now, we need to keep the towers in a tight bunch, and there's a gaping hole on the Galleria site. We need a tower right there where BG put it.
Chesapeake, under McClendon and Ward, will not move out of OKC. I promise.they'd probably just go elsewhere....Dallas maybe?
BTW, I was going to use CHK as a case in point example of beautiful campuses, etc., but someone else beat me to it. They've got nearly 2000 employees, of course many of those are outside of the OKC campus.
