It's possible that they could have changed some small design elements or finishes to make it less obvious it was an addition, but I am pretty sure the overall design and feel should be the same as rendered. I haven't seen any changes on any meeting agendas though.

If changes were made on it being 'less nice', it seems far more likely it would be a cost saving measure, not concern about making the rest look bad. Plus traffic has mostly been stable to growing so unless they had just forecast much larger growth or have started expecting some other large unplanned expenditure(s), there does not seem much reason for a recent shift.

Today at noon the airport will announce a new airline and nonstop service.

And ideas about who and what this might be?

We'll know for sure in about 4 hours.

My guess is Frontier with nonstop service to MIA.

    Good guess!

Checking the Frontier website looks like they will start nonstops to Orlando (MCO) and Denver starting November 1st.

Allegiant currently flies nonstop to Orlando SFB on a seasonal basis.

Frontier website now lists DEN, MCO, and SAN as destinations from OKC. Search under "book a flight"

Also, when choosing OKC on the Frontier website it also provides an option for flights to San Diego but then no dates.

Seems like that may be happening in the future.

    That's freaking fantastic.

I saw they were expanding out of Miami, so that is the source of my guess. With their new fleet expansion, it must be allowing them to grow rapidly. This is great for OKC.

Right, but no available dates for San Diego.

I suspect that will be added as future service.

Playing around with the dates with Frontier, OKC-MCO one way as low as $34 if your'e in their club, $44 if not. I'm sure all the baggage fee's will easily double that price though.

The website now allows you to see all of the cities you can connect to from OKC. Pretty wide range of options for a low price. If you travel a lot, joining their "club" is well worth the $50 per year.

I just can't get on board with airlines that charge $55 for one carry-on and one checked bag. If a couple makes a round-trip, you're looking at an extra $220 added to the fare. And, on top of that, Frontier wants to charge at least $12 for selecting your seat. When I last looked, the only free seats were in the middle on the last, three rows of the plane.

I suppose its a fine airline for business passengers with limited bags. But I don't see the appeal for a family.

I guess my wife and I don't take as much on our trips. We never have to check a bag, and usually only have one carry-on each. If we checked a single larger bag, we wouldn't need any carry on besides our free personal item (her purse, my laptop bag). So we'd be looking at a much smaller addition to the fare.

The seat selection is the thing that would get me the most. But even with that and the bag fee included, it's still cheaper than anything else I could find to Miami.

FRONTIER AIRLINES TO LAUNCH SERVICE TO THREE CITIES FROM OKLAHOMA CITY
Special fares as low as $39

OKLAHOMA CITY – Frontier Airlines will launch new low-fare service between Oklahoma City and three new cities starting this fall. Frontier will celebrate the new service with fares as low as $39* at flyfrontier.com.

The new cities from Oklahoma City include the following: Denver, Orlando and San Diego. Frontier will operate these new routes with Airbus A320 family aircraft. Today’s announcement is part of a national announcement where Frontier is bringing low fares to 21 new cities and 85 new routes, which will include 90 percent of the U.S. population.

“With today’s announcement, Frontier now offers our Low Fares Done Right service in Oklahoma City,” said Sean Morahan, director-stations, Frontier Airlines. “Customers traveling from Oklahoma City now have a new significantly lower-cost option to reach these great destinations.”

“We are very pleased to welcome Frontier Airlines back to Oklahoma City,” says Mark Kranenburg, director of airports. “Known for their low fares to more than 60 destinations, Frontier will be a great addition to our market. The nonstop cities announced today are some of the area’s favorites. I know our customers will appreciate the service and the prices.”

Frontier is focused on more than low fares. The carrier offers customers the ability to customize their travel to their needs and budget. For example, customers can purchase options a la carte or in one low-priced bundle called the WORKSsm. This bundle offers Frontier’s most popular options for as low as $59** each way and includes refundability, a carry-on bag, a checked bag, the best available seat, waived change fees and priority boarding.

To celebrate our new service from Oklahoma City to three new cities, Frontier is giving passengers a chance to win four round trip flights. Enter at: bit.ly/FrontierContest

Exactly. People are saying the fees are "hidden", but really they're just later in the booking process. You eventually see how much it will cost, and it's almost always going to be much cheaper than a major airline. Is it perfect for a family of 5? No. But for 1 or 2 people planning a quick getaway, it's awesome to have options. Before kids, my wife and I took great advantage of Allegiant and never had an issue. Same with Spirit in Dallas.

Well not exactly a "new" airline, but surprised to see F9 will be using 320s. Although I'm guessing that's only to start out with, it does have smaller 319s that can be used for lower passenger count periods. Hope these new flights get used, and also wonder how the MCO service will do alongside Allegiant's SFB service.

Playing around checking airfare and not impress at all. Picked dates in Nov just compare and only compared with SWA. $55 cheaper to Chicago on SWA. $50 cheaper on Frontier to Orlando. $25 cheaper to Vegas on Frontier That is for one person. I sure if I added a bag SWA would be just has cheap if not cheaper to these locations. This is also not a "club fare" which would save you a little more but over all MEH.
