EDMOND — A new women’s clothes-shopping opportunity will be available when Maurices opens April 29 in the Bryant Square Shopping Center at Second Street and Bryant.

A special “sneak peak” event from 6-8 p.m. April 27 will offer 20 percent off purchases for all customers, said store manager Lezlie Martin.

Maurices is a leading national specialty store for customers with a “20-something attitude,” according to a company press release.

“We cater to the college student,” Martin said, “with our target customer age being between 13 and 22, but we have clothes for every woman age 13 and up.”

Maurices focuses on affordable and fun fashions, shoes, purses and

accessories.

“Everything that’s a current trend, we’ll have it,” Martin said.

The 3,000-square-foot store will feature sizes from 1/2 to 17/18 in most styles.

Martin will be responsible for day-to-day operations, including sales performance, visual presentation and personnel recruitment and training.

She has worked with the Maurices company for five years, including stores in Altus and Lawton.

Fashions include everyday casual to special occasion selections, the press release stated. Maurices carries its own exclusive brands, Studio Y and Maurices.

The store offers moderate prices, convenient locations and a focus on friendly customer service, according to a company press release.

The business was started in 1931 by E. Maurice Labovitz as a small women’s fashion shop in Duluth, Minn.

The Edmond store is one of more than 50 that will open across the United States this year. Maurices is wholly owned by Dressbarn Inc.

“We’re very excited to be in Edmond,” Martin said. “We’re looking forward to working with the community. We plan on really catering to families and meeting mothers’ and daughters’ clothing needs.”
