I thought this was a nice gesture by Gov. Henry. He and the Colorado Governor visited the troops in Iraq. Guess it shows you Henry isn't afraid to go get in the middle of it all.
Wonder if Istook will follow suit.
Governor surprises troops in Iraq

Gov. Brad Henry made a surprise trip to Iraq today to visit Oklahoma troops.
The U.S. Defense Department and the State Department invited Henry to participate in a tour of the region to get a firsthand look at conditions where state soldiers are serving.
“It’s a great honor to meet with the Oklahoma troops who are serving on the front lines in Iraq,” the governor said.
“They have an awesome responsibility on their shoulders, and with it comes obvious challenges and hardships,” he said. “Our soldiers are true American heroes, and we pray for them every day.”
The governor toured Iraq with Colorado Gov. Bill Owens.
Henry began his trip earlier this week with classified briefings at the Pentagon in Washington and a meeting with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.
The governor landed in Kuwait on Thursday and had dinner with airmen at Camp Arifjan. Early today he arrived in Iraq, where he met with Oklahoma troops, including members of Oklahoma’s 158th Field Artillery, stationed at Camp Victory and in Baghdad.
Henry also visited Ramadi, where he witnessed a demonstration of equipment used to clear roadways of potential explosive devices as well as a “checkpoint“ demonstration by Iraqi security forces.
