This is insane. Because districts like Union & BA refuse to split their high schools, you have metro schools who have to make long trips up the Turner turnpike rather than play other 6A schools much closer.
Take Norman High's schedule...last year they traveled to Sapulpa, BA, and Jenks. This year they travel to Muskogee. To cater to the east side, here are the schools NOT on their schedule (but should be): Midwest City, Choctaw, US Grant, Mustang, Yukon, Putnam City, Putnam City North, WESTMOORE (are you kidding?!), none of the 3 Edmond schools.
Norman isn't scheduled to play another 6A school in the same county less than 10 miles away? NHS is the southern most 6A school in the metro. NHS is closer to Lawton than Tulsa. Westside schools should revolt and put an end to the waste. School districts cannot afford the fuel costs of traveling 100+ miles especially when there are other schools nearby in the same class.
