I've described this item which had its 1st day grand opening yesterday evening in the Urban Gallery, 1218 N. Western, 2nd day today, 3rd day tomorrow, here: Doug Dawgz Blog: Maya Trading Company — Newest Member of OKC's Arts Community

I'm taking personal privilege by doing this post (and my blog article) because the owners are good friends of mine. But, I suspect that many of you might be interested in the authentic Native American arts of Mexico and Central America which they are presenting and that this might be an arts stop you'd enjoy making.

The Maya Trading Company's grand opening began yesterday (Friday) but it is on-going today (until 5 p.m.) and tomorrow (11 a.m. -5 p.m.). More fully shown in my blog article, the outfit is a new addition to the Urban Art facility at 1218 N. Western and focuses upon authentic Native American art by the indigenous Native Americans in Mexico and Central America.

The stuff they are offering for view and/or for sale is 1st class stuff. It is being offered by a young couple who have a limited amount of capital to invest but who have, by my reckoning, done a marvelous job of acquiring art for viewing or sale within their capacities. If you've been to Urban Art at 1218 N. Western, you know that what's there is high quality stuff.

Below is a sampler of what you will see there ... the 2012 exploitation theme below is mine because I thought it made good sense, given that some interpret the Mayan calendar as foretelling the end of the planet in 2012. To the new outfit's credit or discredit, my banners/ads which focus on the 2012 theme have not (yet) been adopted by the new company. But, the banners below show a good bit of what you will see if you go there.

The Mayan Trading Company is a start-up organization by a very young couple who live and work here in Oklahoma City and who are undertaking this venture on a hope and a prayer ... certainly with a very small amount of start-up capital. It joins and becomes a part of the already high-quality and successful enterprises at the same location: Istvan Gallery, Art Fusion Studio, and the Blue Sage Glass Blowing Studio.

If you are inclined, visit them today until 5:00 p.m. and tomorrow (Sunday) 11 -5.
