There was potential for tragedy again last night at the auto alley parade. I watched from the end of the route where floats exited to the west on 4th. The OK county deputies failed to close eastbound traffic on 4th & Robinson. So hundreds of cars had to make U turns through the parking lots. Several actually kept going, past the parade marshals and made it in to the parade, facing up stream. Considering it was 7:30pm on one of the biggest drinking holidays of the year. Conditions were perfect for a potential drunken or confused driver to go on a rampage. I'm never the safety officer. But this was just ignorant. And so many children present.
This is a very generous offer, but my first reaction is why this should this be different than multitudes of other instances when innocent people are put in harms way through no fault of there own. Will the Stillwater hospital make this a standard practice?
