Blah that's pretty boring. I'm still holding out hope for some sit down restaurants
According to the Traffic Study on the City's website, there is also 565,000 Square Feet of retail planned for this area. So hopefully this will bring some nicer sit down restaurants!
6.8 TAZ 8, John Special Property
TAZ 8 has begun to develop. There is a 366 unit apartment complex under construction. The rest of
the land is planned for retail. There is a total of 565,500 square feet of retail planned. Access to TAZ
8 is either the East Frontage Road or S. 34th Street. The East Frontage Road is already approaching
capacity. Most interstate traffic would access the site using the S. 19th Street interchange.
Additionally, traffic originating west of I-35 would also have to use S. 19th Street. Neither the
interchange nor East Frontage Road has adequate capacity to provide the development as proposed.
When this area is developed, the S. 34th Street Bridge over I-35 is critical. With the potential
development density, a full interchange at S. 34th Street and I-35 is justified. The bridge and
interchange would provide needed relief to S. 19th Street and provide additional access to TAZ 6. In
addition, every effort should be made to connect TAZ 6 and TAZ 8.
