Thread: Bob Stoops only coach in BCS era to win all 4 BCS bowls

  1. Default Bob Stoops only coach in BCS era to win all 4 BCS bowls

Penn State's Joe Paterno (in his 62 years coaching) also won all 4 BCS bowls but only the Rose Bowl was won during the BCS era (1999-2014). Penn State's BCS era Orange Bowl win in 2006 was vacated meaning the win was not recognized by the record book. List of Penn State Nittany Lions bowl games NCAA Imposes Harsh Sanctions on Penn State

Big Game Bob will be the only coach to win all 4 BCS bowls during the BCS era since this season is the last BCS season. His only Orange Bowl win was the National Championship game. Some years (2005-2014) had a separate Championship game played a week later than the other 4 BCS games. Bob coached OU in the 2009 Championship game that was separate from the other BCS bowls, but he lost that game. Bowl Championship Series

I've had three days to absorb this win. It was so huge for OU, Coach Stoops, his assistant coaches, and of course, his young players. Knight was otherworldly. Now we know unequivocally why he won the starting job to start the season. He just wasn't quite up to game speed. But who on earth would have thought his real coming out party would be against the nation's best defense, in one of the biggest bowl games?

Clearly, the fire to win still burns within Bob Stoops. The coaching changes he has made the last couple of years on both lines, at linebacker, and of course, with the return of Mike, have already paid dividends.

The coaches had a masterful game plan, most notably Josh Heupel. He absolutely worked Alabama for three and a half quarters. The coaches obviously had the players knowing the plan and believing they could execute it.

This season was arguably the best coaching job Stoops has done since he came to OU -- including what he accomplished in 2000. So excited for 2014. It's going to be a year to remember for OU football.
