Thread: What happens to the Holy Angels parish community (4th and Blackwelder)?

  1. Default What happens to the Holy Angels parish community (4th and Blackwelder)?

The Holy Angels parish community is a mix of rental housing, owner occupied housing, and commercial properties north of Reno, south of Lynwood, between Penn/Virginia and Western.

If the non-elevated boulevard goes through, there's been lots of talk of development around the boulevard.

Any ideas how this might impact the low income neighborhood that will border the boulevard?

Development in that area is probably a long way off, the planning commission recently made statements that major development between Penn and Walker would be several decades out.

What's the definition of major development?

I would think that if OKC continues to grow at the rate that it is growing, and the city as a whole continues a renewed focus on the urban core that limited development would grow out to Classen/Western by 2025 and that at least some "major" developments would be in place by 2035.

Nothing specific for now although I believe property values in that area will begin to increase eventually. That area should benefit from the revitalization of the Farmer's Market area even if indirectly.
