OKay, I don't mean to be a bad guy here, but I'm doing the math on some of these gift certificate offers and its making me scratch my head a bit...once you read the details.....not going to single out any one restaurant, because the offers are all somewhat similar.....

One example:

$25 cert for $10, but valid only for food purchase minimum of $50...18% gratuity added to pre-discounted check...

So... $50 plus 18% gratuity is $59....less the "$25 gift certificate" leaves me with a $34 bill...plus the $10 I spent for the certificate, gives me a total expense of...$44....so my $25 "gift cert" for my $50 meal really only buys me a $6 discount...

What am I missing? On the surface, $10 for a $25 cert appears to save me $15, but it isn't anywhere near that good..

One thing you're missing is the certificates are also routinely available for as low as 1 to 4 dollars instead of the 10 dollar price.

But even at the 10 acquire fee, unless you traditionally don't tip, cutting the price back to 50 from the 59, price with tip, seems somewhat out of place when talking your savings. For someone who does tip, the 6 savings is actual 15.

If someone eats out a lot, saving that 15 or so a meal can add up over time.

Now through October 31, the typical 25 discount coupon is not 10.00, but a treat sized 2.00

Discount Code is TREATS. Enter it at checkout and hit apply.

So for those interested, $100.00 worth of discount coupons are now $8.00 instead of $40.00

Now THAT'S a deal even *I* can't pass up. Two Alfredo's $25 certs for $5...although they're only good Sunday thru Thursday.....but its still a good discount for a family of four plus a grandmom...
