A lot of major touring bands own their own stages and set-ups, or they employ their own crew, so it might be a requirement that they use their own stage. Not unusual at all.

looks like they may be covering the grass in front of stage area to minimize damage .. which is great idea. especially with rain we have had..

I think its pretty unusual.

If they were performing at a music festival or well regarded amphitheater they wouldn't be able to bring their own stage. Sure a lot of bands have their own stage, but if a venue has one that's adequate and flexible enough they usually just use that.

It's not like the stage they are setting up is some unique monstrosity.

What you think vs what is reality don't have to correlate. Most bands do, if they are travelling by themselves, have their own stage, depending on the venue. Not bashing your opinion at all, just that is it not as unusual as you think.

I would guess that this is not their own stage, but a local production company's stage that is being rented for this concert.

There's temp fencing around the park. Has that always been there for construction or was that erected for the opening? If just for the opening, I guess that would mean there are designated entry points.. maybe for security checks? Are there posted restrictions as to what one can bring to the events?

The stage seems like it was needed for production logistics more than anything. Doesn't look like the actual stage is much bigger square footage wise, but it is taller with deeper side stage areas. And putting it in front of the permanent one creates a staging area behind it. I guess the city could have built all that into the permanent one, but it's a park and not an amphitheater, so all that would would have probably been a waste of space/money for 90% of the entertainment that it will have.

I haven't seen the permanent stage up close, but it does look like it can handle nice size productions and I imagine it will, just not this one. I highly doubt that every show the Jones bookers bring in will need their own stage.

It's absolutely impossible to build a stage that would fill every requirement based upon type of event. (music, plays, poetry readings, etc Building a minimal needs stage is common practice.

The "stage" does probably meet the requirements of 90 percent of the things that will go on at the park. I really think of it as a covered pavillon rather than a stage. Plays, weddings, poetry readers, Edgar Cruize type of artists.

I bet they need this temporary stage because its taller so more people throughout the park can see KOL play. 90 percent of everything else will be up close and personal. There is no point in building a tall monolith structure to see someone reading poetry while in a paddle boat.

Also, let's say they did built an elevated stage. That becomes a fall hazard and they would then have to build a fence around it when not in use. With this setup, they can just leave it and let anyone walk up to it and go in it.

if you have a CC permit you will be allowed to bring in your gun into the park either open or concealed

Does anyone know if the construction fences are down around the park? I want to go wander the park this morning or afternoon. I know festivities don't open until 5:00, but I want to see the park itself before it gets crowded.

I think they are still up and will stay up through the concert so they can control access.

But the should be gone by tomorrow and of course there are all types of events Saturday and Sunday.

Backpacks, rucksacks, large purses. Any small bags are subject to search. Drones, remote-controlled aircrafts, cars or toys. Lawn chairs, selfie sticks, paper lanterns, fireworks, explosives, professional cameras, SLRs, video cameras, iPads, GoPros, tripods, chains or chain wallets, umbrellas, objects that can be used as projectiles (glow sticks, balls, Frisbees), laser pointers, aerosol cans, sporting equipment (including bats, hockey sticks), tents, musical instruments, bicycles, skateboards, scooters, and roller skates. No outside beverages other than a sealed water bottle or empty reusable, non-glass bottle.

Probably SOP at this point. I know a few years back at the courthouse I found out you couldn't enter with a wallet chain.

Someone would think twice before shooting someone though. They would have less of an issue getting into a fistfight in a dispute.
