Just thought I'd mention that Éramos pocos, one of the nominees for Best Short Film - Live Action, actually played here in Oklahoma City today.

Damned funny, too. I reviewed it here: dustbury.com: Right in the shorts

I finally got to see The Departed over the weekend! It was incredible. My fiancee liked it even though she gets offended pretty easily by crude material. And don't get me wrong - this movie says the 'F' word about 200+ times, and uses most of the severe curse words in excess. As well, it is explicitly violent throughout its entirety!

But as far as the Academy Awards go, I'd like to see it win Best Picture/Director. And one for Mark Walberg too. I know it's not the kind of movie they reward with the highest honors...but it is a better movie than 'Little Miss Sunshine' or 'The Queen'.

...I'm sure it's better than Babel too.

  8. Default Re: 2007 Academy Awards

Best Picture should go to Babel or The Departed, and Best Director will most assuredly go to Scorsese.

I'm just glad Dreamgirls didn't get a best picture nomination like it was expected to.
