Citizens Police Academy

Last night, I had the pleasure of graduating from the Oklahoma City Citizens Police Academy. The guy who gave me the certificate was a guy I have known since we were in seventh grade. Asst Chief David Shupe. Great guy, good conversation.

The academy is recruiting for the 21st academy class which will start in August or September. If you are interested in attending, PM me (or I am sure Keith will do this as well) and we will send you the email address for Lt. David Ellis who is the coordenator.

It is a lot of fun and you will learn a lot about our very prestigious department.

Would someone please tell me why we need a citizen's police academy? Sounds to me like a group of a bunch of people that wanted to be cops but couldn't be. Sounds like a waste of time.
