  1. Default Barkley Suggested Tour?

I think we should compile a list and put together an itinerary for Chuck...once we have all added our ideas, we'll email them to Ogle. If he takes him to the Buffalo statue, I'll veto
his news station until the day I die!

Here are a few of my picks:

The National Memorial is a definite must see!

After that on to ____________ ( you fill in the blank) for dinner.

From there attend a Hornet's game - see what all the Buzz is about.

Take a limo through Bricktown and hit a few of the clubs
    " You've Been Thunder Struck ! "

I think i'd steer him away from downtown once just to show him there's more to the city. Perhaps Nikz for dinner... mmmm sounds good. Great view, great food, upscale, big city feel

I agree the Memorial and Museum is a must see. Then a limo over to Trattoria Il Centro and the Montgomery in the arts district. A complete tour of the arts district with a stop at the Museum of Art. Possibly a brief drive by of the up and coming Film District. Then over to Midtown, perhaps down the 10th street corridor taking a detour in Automobile Alley, then over to the Health Science Complex then tour Flatiron, Deep Deuce and The Oklahoma River. Explaining all the construction underway and planned. Also the entertainment district is a must, NCHOFWHM, Remington Park Racino, Zoo, Tinseltown, Photography Hall of Fame etc. Then quickly down the Western Ave corridor. Come down Western to NW 23rd and briefly drive by the unique areas on NW 23rd, Asian district, Paseo, etc. and possibly the Classen high-rise condos. On the way back downtown drive through the east side and the State Capitol area and see that there are "brothers" in Oklahoma. Drive by the site of the Native American Cultural Center. Go to a Hornet's game, after party at the Petroleum club and then head on over to Bricktown!

Everything not necessarily in that order but you could make a unique flowing tour.

Might as well show him the brand new Douglass High School and Thelma Parks Elementary. Show him we actually do invest in our black areas.

Also, Millwood High School has produced state championship football teams for years now. Might not be bad to mention either. Those folks over there really love Millwood.

Didn't baseball's Joe Carter go to Millwood? That might be a nice piece of trivia for him.

How about showing Barkley Stockyards City, Cowtown, and The Oklahoma State Fairgrounds (Horse show capitol of the world)!!! Give him a big steak at Cattlemen's.

    Only kidding.

Seriously, show him we do more than milk cows and ride horses. Take him to Tinker Air Force Base, as well as several of our plants, with the exception of the GM Plant.

Screw the fancy places. Take him to Chelino's and get him a El Burro Loco.

Yes, so was Brooksville, Clearview, Grayson, Langston, Lima, Redbird, Rentiesville, Summit, Taft, Tatums, Tullahassee, and Vernon.

Boley is probably more known than the others, except Langston, since Booker T. Washington visited it twice and even submitted a positive article on the town to Outlook Magazine in 1908.

Barkley seemed to be down on the entire state. I would suggest having a leg of his tour take place in Lawton-Fort Sill. The 3/18 Field Artillery could have him ride inside a 155mm Palladin mobile Howitzer and take part in a fire mission. It's pretty fun to blow up some stuff out on the range.

There's plenty of African Americans here. The town is pretty integrated as well (sometimes I even joke that I wish I were Black so I could date white ladies).

The Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge has a huge buffalo population, and a good number of wild longhorn cattle as well. There's even a few mountain lions in the area. The mountains themselves don't seem really huge from the distance (certainly not like the front range of the rockies), but they seem high enough once you hike up some of the peaks. Great rock climbing.

If he thinks the place lacks any sophistication or technical expertise, then he needs to visit the new CETES facility at Cameron University. There is some pretty awesome technology there. The facility is also going to do extreme high speed data transfer and mirrored backup for OU and OSU. This is made possible by a very high bandwith separate Internet system linking a number of research universities around the United States. It's kind of amazing Lawton has a spur onto this thing.

Hey it may not be that much of a joke. Two weeks ago I finally had a date with this beautiful blonde girl I met a couple years ago, the first and last date in my book. Found out from someone else that knows her she is into black guys and cocaine, what a loser she turned out to be.

Just take him down to 23rd and S. Robinson. He'll have a good ole time. Might even see Brian Bates down there.

Take him to the grain elevator at 18th and South Robinson...........................and leave him in silo.

Take him to Night Trips so he see the lovely young OKC ladies.

Book him a room at the Habana Inn.

Take him to a casino, seriously. He likes to gamble and that would show him that there is more to do in Oklahoma than the Hornets.

Show him some native american stuff. That would let him know there is more to Oklahoma than just country-fied hicks.

Don't say "Miami" as it's pronounced by some Oklahomans (Mi-am-AAAAA). That sounds too hick-ish.

Lol. Stand him up at the airport.

Great suggestions on the high schools, Langston, and the Black Chronicle. I'd think Russell Perry would love to join the tour party. Better yet, have him meet Clara Luper: http://storiesinamerica.blogspot.com...tion-with.html

I hope you're joking. The longhorn cattle/buffalo/vast wasteland feel is what we need to get away from. Hate to say it but Lawton is vast wasteland.
