I think a one loss Auburn team may have a better chance in the BCS than Ohio State. I'm not sure though.

Southeast Conference has won seven straight national championships; this will be the year you will not see an SEC representative win the national championship.

Ohio State & Florida State has too much political pull; they only need to remain undefeated. The SEC competition has caught up with their conference.

    2000 Oklahoma
    2001 Miami
    2002 Ohio State
    2003 LSU
    2004 USC
    2005 Texas
    2006 Florida
    2007 LSU
    2008 Florida
    2009 Alabama
    2010 Auburn
    2011 Alabama
    2012 Alabama

    2013 (?)

How much do you want to bet this year has 2 SEC teams in the NC Game?

You're way overestimating Ohio State moving on up simply because they're undefeated.

    Nice runback.

I fully expect Auburn to jump OSU to #2 tomorrow. Alabama is a bit trickier. We've seen teams like the 2003 OU team lose late and only fall slightly in the BCS. SOS is on the side of Bama and any SEC team. Big Ten just doesn't have it. Though I think MSU beats OSU next week, so that makes it a nonissue.

    109 yard return.. Wow

I didn't even know you could return a short field goal, granted most of the time there is no way it could be caught in play

I think I saw where there had only been 4 returned for TD's in the college game, I have seen more of that happen in the NFL, in recent years the Chargers had one that one I remember.

    Ohio St. will be #2

This really shouldn't even be a conversation.

Why should't it? A team that's ranked #4 & just beat #1 shouldn't be in the conversation of #2 instead of a #3 team that's played a rather bland schedule & was a 2-point conversion away from not even being in the top 5?

I'm sure OSU will end up #2, but I'm not going to say it's a fact they'll be #2.

It is this simple - all ties go to the SEC. A 13-0 OSU/FSU or a 12-1 SEC team? The SEC wins that vote every time.

Every team in the Big 10 lost an out-of-conference game except Minnesota, Michigan, Northwestern, and Ohio St. OSU's out of conference schedule is about as weak as it can get and then they beat a bunch of Big 10 teams who couldn't beat anyone outside the Big 10 either.

If OSU and FSU lose in the conference championship games it is for sure going to be an all SEC NC game; Auburn/Missouri Winner vs. Alabama - and I bet that is how ends up regardless of how OSU and FSU do.

    "It is this simple.."

    Not so fast!

Agree, the SEC has a some super teams among its members--two (Missouri & Texas A & M) of which were Big 12 conference members. The underling problem is scheduling. These scheduled are made out sometimes 2-10 years in advance. .

Two SEC teams and a possible rematch of a one loss Alabama-Auburn (Thanksgiving leftovers)? I don't see that happening.

Saban just got too cocky; he had a chance to go up by 10 and he grossly underestimated his opponent and overplayed his hand; Saturday, Auburn had the football gods on their side:

...But even the best, most prepared, most precise team in college football can make mistakes. And the greatest coach in the modern history of the game is susceptible to brain cramps every now and then.--No. 5 Auburn shocks No. 1 Alabama on game's final play--USA Today.

Should Florida State & Ohio State run the tables and go undefeated? Surely one, if not both of these teams will make the NC game in Pasadena.

Will we see one SEC team in the NC game?

Just the Facts does make a good point--history has been on the side of the tougher conference. I don't see you abandoning two undefeated teams in favor of a possible rematch of two SEC in-state archrivals. We're not talking about an undefeated 'Toledo' or 'Boise State.' You talking about leaving out two possible national powers (FSU-OSU) which would draw more attention than a rematch. An Ohio vs. Florida national championship game would provide more media hype and marketing than a left-over serving of an Auburn-Alabama one state civil war battle. The college football world doesn't revolve around the State of Alabama or the SEC.

Definitely would cause some media hype... a 7-5 team going against a 4-8 team for the national title.

For the record, I am not saying the SEC is a great conference. I think it is way over rated. After all, perennial Big XII also rans Texas AM and Missouri are dominating the SEC. The national sports media is waist deep in the SEC kool-aid though.

I think it should be FSU and Auburn if they they both win out, but Ohio State (#2) still has to beat Michigan State who is the #10 team and Auburn (#3) has to beat Missouri who is the #5 team. Auburn is 0.0027 BCS points behind tOSU so the computers will probably favor Auburn more than tOSU but it will be interesting to see what the AP ranks them at.

I agree for the most part, but I don't think we've had an unbeaten BCS conference team jumped but a one loss team to get in the game. Also, AP rankings don't matter for the BCS. Coaches and Harris poll are the two human components.

Good points. Thanks for the clarification. Once this weekend plays out, we can start the real debate. I would not be surprised to see MSU beat tOSU or Auburn to get beat by Mizzou. I would be very surprised to see FSU get beat by Duke.

Duke beating FSU is about as likely as Auburn beating Bama on a 109-yd missed FG return....oh, wait

All joking aside, just don't see it happening. This is a really good FSU team that has kinda flown under Bama's radar all season. It would be a monumental upset if Duke pulled it off. Been around long enough to know not to "guarantee," it, but despite the conference title implications, this is a mismatch.
