Default Uruguay on Verge Of Legalizing, Regulating Marijuana for Personal Use

This is the model I want in the US. Let's defund the drug dealers and allow people to grow a little pot at home.

    By Elisha Fieldstadt, NBC News
Uruguay has moved one important step closer to becoming the first country to have a legal, government regulated marijuana industry — but the president warns stoner tourists shouldn't light up in celebration just yet.
Fifty members of Uruguay’s lower house of Congress late Wednesday voted in favor creating a government entity — the National Cannabis Institute, which would monitor the cultivation and sales of marijuana. Forty-six members voted against the bill, which is heavily backed by Uruguay’s leftist president, Jose Mujica.

I agree, Unfortunately too much money is made on the status quo. The Private Prison lobby would fight this tooth and nail.

So don't vote for legislators who take campaign money from prison companies. The state is already well taken care of in that regard, in fact too well so, from being the 4th most imprisoned state.

It amazing how highly controversial marijuana is since it can't kill you, while nobody seems the least bit concerned how someone who wants to commit suicide is quite free to go to a drug store, buy a big bunch of sleeping pills and down them. And then all the RX drugs advertised on TV, which are mainly about going over the side effects, many worse than from marijuana, such as death. The sad irony goes so well beyond the height of ridiculousness.

Don't forget Mary Fallin and Scott Pruitt, who raked in hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign money from private prison companies. Take it from the top. Vote all of these people out.

Oklahoma is not going to change until REPUBLICAN voters start holding their own to higher standards. We are doomed to being Republican for probably a generation; it's up to you, Republican, if you want to see change. There aren't enough of us to vote against your candidates. If you're cool with the way things are going, do nothing. Otherwise, demand more from the politicians of your party.
