    Default Facts and marketability

Hi everyone, we just received a new client from you area and i am trying to find out interesting facts and anything that makes OKC marketable for advertising. I am looking up census data and things like that but i was hoping maybe you guys could help me out with things that outsiders may not know about OKC. I have things like your population growth from 2000-2010, I noticed you have 3 major colleges close by. (maybe you have more and i missed it). Tinker is also nearby (any other bases?). I have the three interstates connecting making OKC a great distribution center. Thank you for you help.

    Welcome to the site, Edward.

The OKC Chamber of Commerce keeps lots of great info on the city:

This page shows the numerous lists OKC has appeared on recently (Tops in Job Creation, etc.):

I would say the defining characteristics of Oklahoma City are that's it's an up-and-coming city with one of the lowest costs of living in the U.S. with a very strong economy (among the lowest unemployment rate), almost no traffic and incredibly warm and friendly people.

It's a very easy place to live well from nice suburbs with good schools just 20 minutes from the city center, to multiple burgeoning urban districts that offer interesting housing, abundant restaurants and diverse entertainment options.

As far as truly unique, there is Oklahoma River which is the official training site for U.S. rowing and canoe/kayak; it's one of the best sites in the world for these sports with really modern and interesting modern architecture and tons more facilities under construction or planned for the next couple of years.

There is also the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Center, Remington Park race track and the excellent OKC Zoo all in the NE part of town and part of what is known as the Adventure District.

The most notable district is Brictown, immediately adjacent to the central business district and filled with renovated historic warehouses and now home to about 40 restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, offices and a canal with guided boat tours.

Much, much more on the drawing boards as well, as citizens have recently voted for such improvements as a massive new convention center, expansion of the downtown arena that hosts the NBA Thunder, a streetcar system, a huge new Central Park and many other civic enhancements.

Very nice, that should boost your population size close to 20% by the next census which would put you in the booming city category. The one other thing im trying to find now is tourism numbers. I have a decent amount, however i cant find anything on money being brought in yearly or visitors from tourism yearly. i have percentages of service industry and things like that. Know where i can find info like that? BTW thanks so much for that chamber of commerce link.

One thing that seldom gets recognized is that the 45th Infantry Museum has a collection of Adolph Hitler artifacts, from his burial cape to Eva Brauns mirror. His silver service and glass wares all have the gold 'AH' script etched. A copy of his book is present among some of his guns and pistols, etc. The 45th brought these back when they routed him from one of his German homes during WWII. This museum is full of surprises.
