    Default Pornography on a plane?

Should there be any regulations that would allow or prohibit someone watching porn on their laptop while on a plane? Why or why not?

As in yet another 'law'? I don't think so. This can and should be handled by the policies of the individual airlines IMO. I read recently where some little airline announced they would allow adult movies to be purchased on board. I'm fairly certain it was just a publicity stunt, as this airlines has a habit of such headline grabbing stunts that never actually happen. I seriously doubt it has been a measurable issue of airline patrons turing on some XXX movie on their laptop, iPad etc. with other passengers within view.

If you are referencing the current story in the news*, where a passenger noticed another chap in first class was looking at images of child porn on a laptop, there are already laws which cover the crime of child porn. Unfortunately, those laws do not permit the immediate removal of the holder of child porn from the plane irrespective of its cruising altitude.

Yes I saw that story. And it was from that story that got me thinking as to the guidelines, if any, are established regarding pornography being viewed on a personal lap top while on a plane. If someone was viewing porn is it 'their right' to view it regardless of an airline policy?

Child porn is a completely different animal. As for what is traditionally considered 'porn,' even that has varying degrees of definition to many people. Most likely any regulation would have to draw a line at nudity and or simulated sexual activity. Even those can be interpreted differently.

Your rights end where mine begin. There are several examples of people being ticketed for having 'porn' playing on their in car DVD screens. Even if there is not a specific law, most disorderly conduct and similar laws are so vague they could be used in many cases. I have no idea the legal nuances of being 'in flight' when these things happen.

One's 'right' to view legal porn would not be the same on a plane as it would be at home or even a public facility such as a library, and there can be limits on viewing even in those more permissible environments under various keeping the peace enforcement avenues.

Should there be a new law for it? No. Let the airlines handle it. The Captain is king once you step on that airplane and if they say no or a flight crew member says shut it off, you shut it off.

Someone will scream limiting what they want to watch will hinder exercising their first amendment rights...

The Constitution protects you from the gov't, not from company policies. Your right to 'freedom of speech' etc. does not extend into WalMarts, my home, a plane, this forum, etc.

They can scream, but they it can turn into a federal crime for refusing to listen to flight crew instructions. Best to just shut up at that point or enjoy a large fine and jail time.

Who would watch porn on a plane? That's just rude.

You would have to gurantee that no one under 18 can view what you are as well, otherwise you could be charged with providing the porn to a minor. That in itself should deter anyone would looking...unless they can get everyone around them to confirm with their ID...lol. A privacy screen could go a long way on this one.

They just need to invest in video projection glasses if they can't seem to control their porn craving. I use a pair when I fly on really long flights and am trying to block out whomever is sitting next to me. Also good for violent movies or movies that have the occasional 'adult scene' and you don't want to offend anyone.

You have to shop around. I bought three different brands before I found one I liked. Even then, you look pretty goofy with them on. But, when you let someone try them, they are hooked. There is a funny video somewhere online of some goofball jock wearing these while on an elliptical at a gym. Needless to say he has a pretty comical fall off the equipment.

Is there a cord attached to them or do they have a memory card for the movie?

Mine connect to my iPhone, iPad or any media device with a signal output. I've seen some with a hard drive, but I didn't want to bother with converting the files.

    "Pornography on a plane?"

I'm thinkin' that--as long as the cockpit is porn free--this shouldn't be an issue causing pilots to overshoot the runway . . . Like almost all the way to Chicago.

    But I've been wrong before.

Perhaps Ron Paul and Herman Cain can make this a campaign pledge?
Then go on The Daily Show to explain why . . .
