I have driven by the Chuck house on NW 10 several times and have wondered if it is as good or better than say Del Rancho which is pretty good imo. Worth the trip or not? how are the prices etc.?

I got a burger there once that was pretty good. But you wouldn't like it there. Too many people wanting to turn right on red.
Damn good and dirt cheap...Always packed for good reason
Bar none *the* best steak sandwich I've ever eaten. Period. And, yes, that includes Del Rancho, by a longshot. Last SS I had at a DR was nasty, tasting like it had been sitting under a heatlamp for three days.

Hey:........Chuck House has always been better than Del Rancho:.....They tried to open a White Castle burger joint in Moore didn't work. They decided to stay with what they do best:............It's worth the trip:.......But, try Ann's Chicken Fry and 39th st.......Onion Rings.... blow you away:.....The guy that owns it graduated from Grant in '64 :...Alvin Burchett
Hey Bobby ~
Chuck House has great chicken fried steaks! That is all we ever eat there. The price is right too. Haven't you seen their commercial?!? "Best chicken fry in the universe!" *grin*

Are you kidding me? Chuck House is by far the best chicken fried steak and gravy in the metro, and perhaps the universe as they claim! Del Rancho isn't even in the same league as Chuck House, and it's cheaper too. As others said, there is a reason it stays packed.
Funny you would ask this. I just tried the Chuck House double burger on Broadway in Edmond for the first time on Friday.
The burger was outstanding. The service was very sub-par. A group of people who appear to really hate their jobs or lack any kind of social abilities. And aside from a few too many flies all over the place......I recommend it.
Anyway....yeah....the double burger is enjoyable for only $3.95. Go get one.
If you're going to Chuck House, get what they are known for, Chicken Fried Steak.
chuck house is not way better than del rancho BUY A LONG SHOT. for a steak sandwich, they are definitely the best two around. of course one could say they like one over the other, but one is not that better over the other. they are about the same, both have great steak sandwiches (or steak dinners which again are great at both places. some del rancho's serve that brown gravey i don't like). i have to admit, i only get the steak sandwichat both places, so i don't know how the other food is. chuck house is a lot cheaper so it is a better deal, but i like them both just fine.
I like Del Rancho better, but Chuck House is still good. If you go, get the chicken fried steak sandwich.
Ok, I guess i will have to go try it out for sure now.
Thanks for all the input to my question.
if you like chicken fried steak sandwiches....you will not be dissapointedOk, I guess i will have to go try it out for sure now.

If they'd use real mayo instead of Miracle Whip, that steak sandwich would be *perfect*
We haven't found one as good as Chuck House down here in Austin, that is one of the places that my wife (West Texas native) always wants to go eat at when we are back in OKC visiting my family....and my parents live a half mile from there so I grew up on the stuff.
Austin's just on the wrong end of Texas for that. It needs a Home Plate Diner. OKC needs a Home Plate Diner, but we'll never be so lucky...
We go to the Chuck House in Edmond and love it there. The chicken fried steak sandwich is really good and they have a nice salad bar. The location on NW 10th to me has uncomfortable seating. The one in Edmond has tables and tv's to watch and we prefer it up there.
The one on 10th was originally built as a Big-T restaurant, a "sit down" variation on Tastee Freeze. Those are the original seats/tables/phones in the main dining room, so they were sized for people in the mid-70's, I know over the years they are less comfortable than they used to be for me as well. Then it was a Del Rancho for a little while but there were some franchise issues with many locations in the Del Rancho chain at that time (around 1980) and Frank went out on his own and reopened as Chuck house. I had several friends that I grew up with in the area work there when we were in high school and some many years after.
I didn't know they had opened up other locations, where are they located?
I've become a full-on a Chuck House junkie.
The Edmond location is luckily across the street from my employer..and the site of either a hickory or double burger order. Fantastic stuff.
Great value for the money!
I ate at chuck house today, and was not very impressed. We used to eat there all the time from 88-98 and they were awesome, but it seems the steak is thiner and to dry. As of today Del Rancho wins hands down.
grantgeneral, I agree their portion size and buttery taste is gone, but it is still the best chicken fried steak I've every had hands down. I'm of the old school and say if you're going to get one get it right with the gravy, not a sandwich.
I always thought RJ's was the best chicken fried steak around until they closed
I like Kendall's in Noble. I consider it the Eischen's of CFS.
Kendall's is okay but I prefer Chuck House by far.
I have had Kendalls and Chuck House both multiple times and I would give CH as slight edge. You can't go wrong with either one though
